Here are the things that I *could not* have lived
without. This is different from an all-inclusive list
of things you need; I have to believe a site like
BabyCenter.com or even BabiesRUs (where we registered)
would have a list you could use as a guide. A few tips
that come to mind - I'd say you want 3 changing table
covers and 3 sets of crib sheets per crib, a TON of
cloth diapers to use as spit up cloths/rags, an equal
ton (maybe 10?) tiny blankets to lay on top of the
changing table, 6 large blankets for protecting babies
from sun in the stroller, or lying underneath them on
the carpet etc. You need more blankets than you think
you do. Ditto soft baby washcloths. My Wish List would
 include:Miracle blankets (4)Wipes warmerWubbanub
pacifiers (helps the paci stay in better) (2)Happiest
Baby on the Block (book for mom)Good Night, Sleep Tight
by the Sleep Lady (book for mom)I would try to borrow
bigger items like swings etc. and see if your babies
like them. Some find they only need one swing, jumparoo
etc. Neither of our babies liked the swing at all so we
borrowed one and returned it (whereas I could not have
lived without two bouncy seats). We also carried them
around the house in Moses baskets for the first few
months rather than setting up pack and plays in every
room. I would try carriers (keep the receipts) before
you decide which you like; most people have strong
preferences b/w Baby Bjorn, Ergo, Moby wrap etc. That's
all that comes to mind for the moment.

I liked the Amazon registry, because the selection is
nice and wide. I did add breastfeeding essentials to
the registry (privacy cover, nipple cream, teas (Milk
Maid Nursing Mother, Weleda Nursing tea, Mother's Milk
tea) and the Breast Friend Twins pillow (a must!!)). I
also encouraged people to use Craigslist - I know it's
a bit strange, but I just feel terrible about getting
things new that you're only going to use for a few
months. I think Craigslist is great for cribs, boucy
seats, swings, playmats, rocker chairs, and
 clothes!!Congratulations and all the best!

We printed some really terrific, comprehensive "Layette
Lists" in various old editions of the POM newsletter,
Multiplicity - most recently in the March/April issue
this year. You can find it under the "Files" tab here
on BigTent, and just download to view -- takes only a
few seconds on most computers. Let me know if you have
trouble with that. I also really loved a little used
paperback book I found at Green Apple called "Ready or
Not, Here We Come!" which was a fun-to-read guide to
gear for multiples - what you need new (very little)
what's ok to find used, what you just need one of, etc.
POM and Craig's List, and local parent groups are all
GREAT resources for buying or borrowing equipment that
you might want to test-drive before investing in.
There's a LOT of it out there, cause kids grow through
it all so fast.Good luck with everything, and congrats!

One other thought.... things for MAMA - especially
services - are HUGELY welcome by most new moms. Kids
only need so much gear - but mamas can use all sorts of
support, whether it's food in your freezer, a grocery
run, a visit, someone to walk your dog -- maybe make a
list of the tasks you currently still do, that someone
else could cover on a random, drop-in basis, and see if
people will consider/commit to some of those! Also, if
you're considering cloth diapers, people can contribute
any amount to a service like Tiny Tots (which is
brilliant - you don't wash anything - they pick up and
deliver weekly - everything you need, including all
sorts other baby gear from their shop. You don't even
need to leave the house! website here:

on my list:- Bundleme to keep them warm in their
carseats (specially if you live in SF)- Ergo baby
carrier (tried a few different ones and the ergo is
definately the best)- diapers- ask for diapers! you'll
need boxes of them!- sleepsacks- when they were really
small, i had them swaddled, but once you get out of
swaddling, sleepsacks are great (so don't have for
 smallest size, but Medium up)

I had a similar experience, circling the neighborhood
for half an hour until I decided I just needed to go
home. There must have been an opera/symphony/ballet
performance because all the garages I passed were full.
So frustrating! Would also love to hear if anyone has
 parking advice for these events.

Sorry the parking didn't work out.Our next two general
meetings will be held at the Sports Basement on Bryant
Street. Our Holiday Fundraising Party on December 1 and
Getting Back in Shape in January date to be
announced. The Seesaw space is beautiful but I'm
reconsidering using it just for the parking reason. For
members that have been to both Seesaw and Sports
Basement which format do you prefer?James

Hi Jennifer,I had the same problem. At last month's POM
session I circled the streets for 45 minutes and missed
half the talk. It didn't help that a lot of the area
didn't feel safe to park in after dark. Last night I
ended up parking in a lot on Grove Street next to the
Days Inn. It is a shame the parking is so difficult as
I think Seesaw is a great space for the talks.

Hi James,There has been some talk on our playgroups FB
page, too, about the parking. I think the Sports
Basement is perhaps the preferred space because parking
logistics. I like having dinner/drinks with the talk,
 as well vs. coffee
