3. Philanthropy Request - Holiday Families

mcharap - 11/23/2011 3:27 pm

Hi,2011 has been a challenging year for many and for
those who have been hit particularly hard the SFPOM
would like to help make your holiday season a bit more
cheerful. Each year during this time, the SFPOM puts out
a call for donations for our members in need. If you'd
like your family to receive holiday donations, please
email me directly at mcharap at yahoo.com no later than
Friday, Dec. 2. In your email, please include how old
your children are and the types of items you'd most
like to receive. Historically, we have aimed to help
families with children age 6 and under but if your kids
are slightly older than that and you'd like some help,
I might be able to make exceptions. As soon as I have a
final list of families and the types of items they'd
like to receive, I'll send out another email to the
Club asking for your help. The names of the families
seeking donations will remain private.Thank you very
 much.Marcy GinsburgPhilanthropy Chair, SFPOM

susanmk88 - 11/23/2011 10:29 am

Hello: I was wondering if anyone has experience with
the 529 College Investing Plan, and has pros/cons of
this type of plan for children's college savings vs.
other options. Also, does anyone know about the
Merrill Lynch NextGen College Investing Plan? Thanks
 so much.

We opened Vanguard 529 accounts for our two when they
were born in 2006.Unfortunately, like all stock
accounts, when the market went down, so did it! But
we're back in the black and fingers crossed it will
continue to rise. Good luck!Susan--- On Wed, 11/23/11,
