1. Milk cups for 2-year-olds
--------------------------------------------------------
erin_loback - 10/12/2011 10:23 pm

My kids turned 2 a few weeks ago, and for almost the
last year they've been drinking out of Munchkin
flip-top straw cups. They get milk (with kefir) in the
morning, and the cups get refilled throughout the day
as they ask for milk, going in the fridge when they get
neglected for a while. They can drink out of cups
without lids, but it's hit or miss with my daughter,
and there's so much opportunity for spilling. So I'd
like to stick with some sort of covered cup. But my son
has started eating the straws. Despite numerous "no
biting" warnings, he has chewed through all our straws,
and the 4 replacements I bought last week. So it's time
for something new. I'm looking for cups that don't
spill and that are good for 2-year-olds. They've used
straws, so I don't want to move backwards and give them
sippies. I have the take and toss cups with straws and
lids, but he chews on those straws and crushes them,
and they seem like good temporary cups, but not the
best permanent ones. Any suggestions? Thanks!

My oldest also chews straws and even sippys with long
spouts. His fave are the Munchkin hard spout take n
toss style. He can completely destroy one of those in a
just few minutes. I can't stand cleaning sippys with
valves (and dentists say they are bad anyway), so we've
switched to Tilty cups. They have a snap on lid with a
very low profile spout that's impossible to gnaw on.
They even sell a lid with bigger holes that's designed
to be used with smoothies. I've still got the first one
I bought about a year ago. We only use these at home.
http://www.tiltycup.com/When we go out and for
preschool they use Kleen Kanteens or something similar
with a pop up spout. The Camelback kids bottle is also
very nice. The spout is soft silicone and can have a
 straw stuck in the bottom.

As a mom of b/g twins who turned 2 two weeks ago, the
best advice I can give you is that whatever you give
them, give them two of the same thing or something with
enough parts they can both use it at once. :-)The
biggest hits in our house right now are kitchen/cooking
toys, backpacks they can put stuff in and wear around
the house, books, things for coloring and drawing, and
 magnetic letters.

6. Where did you tandem feed once they could crawl?

Hi everyone,Where do you tandem feed your babies once
they can crawl? Mine are 8 months old and increasingly
mobile. We're currently feeding on the guest queen bed
surrounded by pillows-as-barriers. But I'm starting to
feel like this isn't perfectly safe, especially when I
 transfer one at a time before/after a feed.Any
 suggestions?

I fed them on the living room floor leaning against an
ottoman. I always used the BFing pillow (big, blue U
shaped one- can't remember the name.)----- Original

we fed them both sitting in their car seats in their
room; they days they were overly active we would strap
them in. it worked really well

I got a floor chair like this and nursed on the floor
 starting at around 5
 months:http://sitincomfort.com/bajaflch.htmlI continued
to use the twin nursing pillow, but I can't remember if
I still used the back support piece. I think so.

there was a post about this not long ago... you might
want to check that out. My husband is going to do the
same thing, so I'll let you know what we end up doing
 and how it goes.

My colleagues and I have successfully used Aaron. You
have to drive out to his house, but he's cheap and does
 a good

That is exactly what we did (well, 15 minute increments
starting Thursday rather than 10 minutes starting
Tuesday, but same idea), and for two springs and a fall
it's gone without a hitch. We did it for nighttime and
naps. I plan to do the same thing again this fall.
