Hello amazing SFPOMers! My friend could use a little
support. Her b/g twins are now term, were born a little
under 36 weeks. She also has a 4 year old girl. Anyone
who is able to drop by a meal or just contact her for
some "been in your shoes" support -- I know she would
really appreciate it. I'm thinking she doesn't have
time at the moment to get on the forum as much as she'd
like.Here's her Care Calendar log
in:http://www.CareCalendar.org/logon/85938(Calendar ID
: 85938, Security Code : 7663 )Thank you so much! I
wish I was there to be of more support to her!

We *love* our practice, Childs Light, and our doctor,
Dr. Martel. They are one of the practices that comes to
you; they have no home office, so all visits are house
calls. They bring everything with them -- scales,
shots, whatever -- and they're available (by they I
mean the doctors) 24/7 via email and cell phone.
They're also wonderful doctors and wonderful human
beings.

1) Bassinets are only available for international
flights. We flew to Hawaii recently and the bassinets
are not an option on the plane. We just bought our
tickets to Asia a few days ago and I called the
airlines to reserve bassinets for the twins. 2) Both
my husband and I wore the Moby wrap whilst sitting
during our flights to and from Hawaii. The twins were
14 weeks then. It was great bringing a carrier on the
plane with you to soothe them by walking them in it up
and down the aisle. Also, helpful for when you are
having a snack/meal at your seat. We also brought one
boppy pillow with us on the flight. It helped with
feeding and they can actually sleep on it on your lap.
3) We gate checked our BabyJogger City Select and two
Graco car seats. We flew on United and I called to
check if there was a weight limit for strollers at gate
check. United's weight limit is 60 lbs. I heard that
AA's limit is 28 lbs but you should call to verify. 4)
I haven't travel alone with the twins yet but
generally, everyone was super helpful - airport
employees while going through security, flight
attendants and your fellow passengers. There is a
family check-in line in SFO, it's easy to go through
there with milk storage and etc. If you are traveling
with another adult and two infants on lap, remember you
can't sit together no matter what they tell you on the
phone or when you are at the check-in counter. The
flight attendants will move one of the adults. You can
sit in the front, back and side-by-side on the aisle
seats since each set of seats only have one extra
oxygen mask and hence, can only accommodate one
baby/child. Obviously, you have nothing to worry about
if you are buying a ticket for an extra seat. Good luck
with your travels!

I was going to chime in and say that each airline has
its own rules about gate checking strollers. I too have
heard that AA set a new limit of 20 lbs (or maybe it's
28 as indicated above, but you get the idea) that rules
out any major double stroller. You can only check the
umbrella kind on that airlines. I don't believe others
have followed suit but you should check. As for
traveling alone with infants, I have heard that it is
not allowed. So if you're considering it, you should
check that with the airline. Thinking through our
experience, I don't see how you could do it alone to be
honest. You could never get up to use the bathroom. You
could never get up to change just one baby. You would
have a very difficult time getting on the plane -- how
would you hold two babies while simultaneously folding
down a double stroller at the gate? We have found mixed
things WRT to others helping us. On some flights
passengers and crew were extremely sweet and helpful
and generous. On others, no one offered to lift a
finger for two clearly struggling parents and the crew
told us they were not allowed to hold babies. So you
never know.
