HI All- I have not been here for a while- but I
understand there has been lots of conversation about
SFUSD system and multiples- in terms of the issue of
getting your kids into one kindergarten- into the same
public school....I am facing this with triplets- we
will be going to K in 2012 fall- and so getting ready
to go into the application process. I am wondering
where on this list I can find the conversations about
this- we are of course worried by the fact that our
kids may not get into the same school- and wanted to
hear some thoughts from other parents of
multiples....Thanks for any guidance here - if nothing
else how to search for the threads on this list...Ranu

FYI, my boys go here and we're a big fan. Easy access
off 280 just north of 380, so quick access from many
areas of SF. They are having an open house this
weekend. thxaimeeUrban Sprouts Day school has spaces
for Fall 2011! Come to the open house this Sunday 10/02
at 11am to see our unique preschool environment with
organic garden, chickens and a Waldorf inspired
program. We have full and part time spots
available.http://www.urbansprouts.com

hi there. we are super behind in getting our b/g 15
month old twins on a waiting list for preschool here in
the city. we live in the inner richmond area and would
like to be able to have them go near our home. can
anyone give us advice on where to apply etc? we are
totally clueless! if you have a nanny, how did you
handle nanny hours vs. preschool hours etc?

Put in a request to the hotel that you would like a
Handicap accessible room if that is possible in Mexico.
The last time we stayed in a hotel with twins the
Front Desk clerk volunteered that sort of room since we
were also requesting a crib; the hallway front entrance
alone seemed like another separate room ! If your twins
sleep with a Sleep Sheep or some sort of sound machine
I would bring 2 of those for surround sound . And it
never hurts to explain your twins situation, ask for a
manager and request a free upgrade to a larger room.

White noise is a good idea - most smart phones (or
ipad) have apps for that.

I just downloaded an ocean waves "song" onto my itunes
and play that repeating on my iphone when we all share
a hotel room. My kids sleep like logs, so we really
only have to be quiet while they are going to sleep. I
bring a flashlight so I can read and see when we are
moving around in room while they are out. At our last
hotel room, we had a patio and sat outside until the
kids were sound asleep. Once they were, we came in and
watched tv on low volume or read books. Usually the sun
and new sites knocks them out, so bedtime doesn't take
long on beach trips (of course, mine are now 5- I
forget how it went at 1). Have fun!----- Original

I traveled alone with my twins when they were infants
and toddlers. I gate-checked their double stroller w/o
any problem on United and Southwest. Can't speak for
other airlines. I always got them each their own seat.
(The double stroller gate-check was critical to
carrying two car seats and diaper bag, etc.) They were
much more comfortable in the familiar car seats. I did
that for safety (of course it cut down on our traveling
since it made plane trips more expensive), but I think
it was a good choice. It made a big difference in my
ability to manage the whole situation (going to the
restroom was a non-issue - I just alerted a flight
attendant or a friendly neighboring passenger - and
always got seats near the front or back so I was
close). I always got help getting the kids and stuff
(including car seats) down the aisle from the door to
the seats and folding up the stroller, for gate check,
because they could not load the other passengers until
we were out of the way so the crew was always motivated
to help. The only time things got harry for me, when
we had an eight hour delay in one airport and had to
make a connection in a huge hurry just to catch the
re-booked plane to our final destination, a couple of
crew members (United) stepped up and went WAY out of
their way to help us out. Three things made the most
difference: 1.) having their own seats; 2) I suspect
we got more support because I was traveling alone with
two of them and people seemed to think I would welcome
help; and 3) I did a really careful 'thinking it
through' step by step before hand. For example,
picturing myself unloading babies, stuff, etc. from the
stroller to go through security, I realized that straps
to hold stuff to the stroller needed to have buckles I
could release with one hand; I needed a clean cloth at
hand in my pocket or an accessible bag pocket to throw
on the floor to set a baby on while I unbuckled the
other one, etc. Little details I worked out before the
first couple of trips that I could prepare for before I
got there. I didn't find it all that daunting (except
entertaining them for eight hours in the Flagstaff
airport, but that was an anomaly :)).
