Dear friends,I want to let you know about one of my
MOST FAVORITE PLAYS on the planet.It¹s called
Stretchmarks Moving into Motherhood, and I have seen
it fourtimes because I love it. It was written in
2003 by 4 moms who met at awriting workshop. The play
is very funny, poignant, entertaining, and itmight even
make you cry. You will relate to every word! This year
the play will be performed in the small studio of ³The
Make UpGourmet² in San Francisco. The studio holds 40
seats, so these will beintimate performances in May.I
highly, highly recommend seeing the show with some
girlfriends. Some of mymost favorite ³lines² about
Motherhood come from this play.Below is the
information, dates, and a link to order tickets.Carole

Can anyone recommend a foam playmat. Id like to protect
the 5 mo old twins from the hardwood floor (and also
the floor from the babies). We tried the tadpoles brand,
but sent it back because it was complicated to piece
together ad didn't seem worth the cost. Thanks in

We got one from One Step Ahead - we have it for two
years now and it's still like new and very easy to
piece together - we clean it once a month by taking
apart. They have sets with letters, numbers and shapes
 - look for their catalog online.Good luck!Jenia On Apr

Maybe not a long-term solution, but the Ross in the
Potrero Center (& other locations) usually seems to
have several different sets of those things, never more
than $20/set. Some of the ones with smaller tiles are
nice if you need to configure them to a non-rectangular
space. (Just watch out if getting more than one set,
cause they don't all fit together.) I'd just
recommend airing them out outside for a day before
using if you can, for any off-gassing, cause they can
have that strong plastic smell when new, and that
doesn't seem like it'd be all that great to breathe...

We actually used two of the Tadpoles ABC sets together
to create a playspace on our hardwood floors. We liked
 the green then
they discovered how to take it apart so there were a
few weeks of having to replace a few pieces every day
(our poor nanny). But they soon outgrew both
phases/got bored and then moved on to wreaking havoc on
other things. :) I actually saw this posting b/c
we're about to sell our set and the baby gates we used
around it. (Now that the boys are older, we adults
want our living room back!) ;) Good luck!

Street parking is tough...I love love love our new
Sienna minivan. It's just so convenient. My Mom was
with us the first 8 months, so it was often 3 adults, 2
babies, a dog and a stroller. For that, the minivan was
a must (we also had 2 3 hour road rips in the first 3
months). Wouldn't have wanted another car for that.
Otherwise, a smaller car would have worked, but I still
am really happy about the minivan every time I put the
stroller (no need to collapse) in or have to change the
boys in the car. I actually took the stroller (a city
select) to te dealership to make sure it fits in the
back, uncollapsed - it did not fit I to the Mazda 5).
But it is a big car (we kept our2001 Prius for my
husband's commute and any no-kids trips - we sold our
Audi 3 which we felt was the worst car of the 3 (even
though the best looking ;-). Parking is indeed tougher
with the minivan, but the rear camera really helps
getting into spots. And my husband finally got used to
it (it was tough to convince him to allow the minivan
 in our household)...good luck!

I think I paid around $350 for mine, but I ended up
firing her after a couple of weeks - final straw was
hearing the babies cry on the monitor and coming into
the room and finding her sawing logs through the din.
No one is good on a 24 hour basis. To be honest, I
have found that very few (including myself) have the
stamina to care for twins well for 40-50 hours a week.
You might consider just finding two local people to
help you during critical hours - someone 12-8 and
someone for a few hours during the day, for example.

I've been watching this thread with interest so thank
you for all the recommendations. For the projects that
people have listed, could you please share the range of
what those projects cost, including the designer's
fees? I would love to do something, but don't know if
 we're talking about $5,000, $25,000, or $50,000 since
 everyone's definition of "affordable" is
 different.Thanks!

I know its scary being pregnant. Especially with twins.
And we all want to do everything to ensure a healthy
outcome. However, I found it useful to remember that
pregnancy is a biological process and as such our
ability to control it is somewhat limited. so when/if
"problems" occur it is not necessarily a result of not
doing something right. This is why it is so important
to have a doctor that you trust. If you trust your
doctor then follow her/his advice. If you don't trust
your dr, find another one. And get frequent monitoring,
because the sooner "problems" are detected, the better
the chance for healthy outcome. And yes water, water,
 water, rest and reduce stress

jeccat - I hear you on the protein/vegetarian thing!
NO WAY it's possible to get as much as Luke recommends!
(I'm not even sure a carnivore could!) My birth-prep
class teacher gave me some wise advice, which was just
to be sure to have some protein with every meal. And,
I'd occasionally supplement with various storebought
protein powders. Other than that -- the
resting/relaxing/lots of water advice everyone else
mentions is key! Plus -- you really want to enjoy the
still, alone time while you HAVE it! : DGood luck to
 you!
