Sandpiper - 4/28/2012 2:43 pm

Dear all,The classifieds are now open so please post
all the "for sale", "free", "wish to by" requests to
classifieds and not to the general discussion forum.
All the caregiver related questions - recommending or
looking for caregiver - should be posted to the
Caregiver Forum - not to General Discussion forum
-since they are subject to moderation. There were some
forum abuses in the past, hence the moderation. The
post will take some time to appear - the human
volunteer had to read and approve it. When you are
posting check ONLY ONE FORUM - not both general and
caregiver.I know that Big Tent can be very confusing,
so please feel free to contact the board or me as Big
Tent coordinator with your questions.Below is the
 template for Caregiver Forum recommendation

being submitted. If you do not see your post within
that time frame, send an email to info at sfpom.org to see

3. Tips for Saving Money
--------------------------------------------------------
nancydrew81 - 4/28/2012 7:49 am

Hi All,We are expecting twin boys in June. My husband
and I are both postdoctoral fellows at UCSF and will
have a very tight budget for the babies first 2-3 years
of life. Nannies and night doulas are way beyond our
financial means. We decided to go with an Au Pair and
cloth diapers (best bottoms with washable inserts) to
cut back cost. Most of our baby equipment we've been
given by very kind friends and family or bought used.
I was interested to know if anyone had advise or tips
of other things we could do to save money in the first
 years.Cheers,Nancy

Congratulations, Nancy!Hopefully you were able to
attend the POM consignment sale in March... if not, be
sure to come to the next one! The Marin POM club (not
affiliated with us, but same basic idea) is having
their big sale in June -- check the current issue of
Multiplicity (the SPOM newsletter) for the exact
date.If you don't know about Peekaboutique and Chloe's
Closet already, those are GREAT sources for used kids'
clothing (& reselling same.) Also, I've found some
surprisingly great deals on kids' clothes at Thrift
Town (Mission/17th.)Bravo, for going the cloth diaper
route! If washing gets to be too much, can you
consider a service, like Tiny Tots? They're great, and
any friends/family members who want to help you out can
pre-pay for some of that service... (that can be
particularly nice for any out-of-town relations who
want to help... highly practical, and very easy for
them to sign up online. www.tinytots.comBorrowing
stuff from other members can be helpful, and there's
TONS of stuff out there on Craig's List
