 I had a c-section w/my twins in September and I would
say no birth plan is needed. I guess it depends on
what you mean by birth plan, but the doctors do
everything for you and manage you pain (of which you
should have none during the surgery), so IMO a plan is
not necessary.I knew the time and date of the
c-section, got the spinal and about 20 minutes later
the babies were out. Honestly, it was really easy. I
also thought the recovery wasn't so bad.

 we interviewed Dr. Martel from
 http://childslightpediatrics.com/category/about-us/
back in August and we were very impressed. We ended up
going with Pacific Pediatrics Group - Dr. Daniel Kelly
based on costs and great referrals from friends. My
husband and I talked about the idea of trying Dr.
Martel based on convenience when we are both working
and having that "personal" touch. Based on our meeting,
 I would highly recommend.

Though we've never used them for that, Getzwell
Pediatrics (run by Dr. Julia Getzelman) in Noe Valley,
 offers that option.http://getzwell.com/services/Their
office is really pleasant, relaxed and non"doctory"
(which is nice, for office visits) and we love Dr. G
and all her staff there. They have an integrative
approach, which we also appreciate, and the
appointments are long and thorough, and we never feel
rushed. They don't take insurance, however, so the
onus is on patients to submit forms for reimbursement.
We do get a good chunk of it covered, though, and for
the access, feel it's worth it. Good luck with your
info-gathering -- how great that you're starting so
 early! : )

I know there are always promotions with Cord Blood,
especially with twins. We took prenatal classes with
Sarah McMoyler and she had some special offer. BTW...If
you haven't taken prenatal classes, I would highly
recommend McMoyler method. Back to the topic, I believe
CBR is the largest of the bunch and the one she
recommended if we wanted to bank cord blood. We opted
not to do it for a variety of reasons. Enjoy the "calm"
 before the storm. :)

Great question - thanks for checking!! Unfortunately,
because the Club is currently without an events (Family
Outings) coordinator, we don't have anything scheduled
this holiday season. (Altho, historically, our holiday
gathering has been held in January, as December is
already SO busy for many. However, I can suggest a
couple of possibilities for our members (in addition to
volunteering ; )* Moms' Night Out Cookie
Exchange/Recipe Swap, this Thursday, December 6th. See
the Events tab for details, and join us for this
festive holiday-prep event!* See the holiday events
listing in the current newsletter, Multiplicity (found
in the "Files" tab, page 11.* Our own local Victorian
house museum, the Haas-Lilienthal House, is having its
annual holiday open house THIS Sunday, December 2nd,
from 12-3. This is a lovely event, w/ Santa visiting
at 2 p.m., usually some books/gifts for sale in the
downstairs ballroom, refreshments, and a chance to
explore the House on your own, with docents on hand to
answer questions. Be sure to visit the Maid's Room
upstairs to admire the dollhouse and vintage toys, and
the Train Room on the lowest level. Admission is
 $10/adult and $5/kids 12 & under, but if you purchase a
deeply-discount Family Membership using the link below,
you can get in for free, as well as taking advantage of
their other member benefits (free House and walking
tours - GREAT when you have visitors, or want to learn
more about SF!), newsletter, lectures, etc.DISCOUNT:

When our twins were about 20 months we split them up
for a 48-hour trip. My son and I went to SF for some
Dr. appts. and Dad stayed home in Tahoe with our
Daughter. You'd have thought our daughter never knew
she had a brother and mother! She was OVERJOYED to be
alone with one parent focusing on her! My son looked
around a lot, as if he were looking for Dad & sister,
but he did just fine and we had a blast together
1-on-1. The experience has led us to plan an annual
1-on-1 trip with our kids, so that they have memories
of spending time bonding alone with just one parent.
 Safe travels!

DO IT!! and don't worry. A few months ago I took my
then-26 month old daughter to Kauai, leaving my son
home with dad and nanny. (a last minute opportunity to
accompany my girlfriend came up - her husband had to
cancel and they had already rented the nonrefundable
beach house). My daughter and I had an absolutely
amazing time. She really thrived from the 1 on 1 time.
SHe did talk about her brother several times, but
didn't seem sad (I mean come on, she was in Kauai
having a blast). My son was fairly oblivious that we
were gone, as far as my husband could tell -- and he
got lots of bonding time with dad. They even watched
some football! :-) Anyway it was a great experience
overall and we plan to do it again sometime.

My husband took each twin separately to visit his mom
in Florida. Each had a great time away. My daughter was
always fine playing on her own, so she was OK when it
was her turn to stay home with me. My son, however,
never wants to be by himself so it was a bit more of a
chore for me to take care of him at home by himself.
Nevertheless, it was a great experience for everyone.
 Have a great time!

I don't remember the brand of the ones we borrowed, but
we used these really handy chair-top models (rather
than free-standing high-chairs which, to be stable,
almost always have kind of a huge footprint.) They
were kind of like booster seats, really, except sized
down for wee ones - the advantage being that they just
take over a couple of your existing chairs, rather than
adding additional furniture to your floorplan. At
first we used them for spoon-feeding with the removable
trays, and then later pulled them up to the table,
trays removed, to eat with us. After that, we went to
the clip-on "travel" chairs, that hung from the table,
and those were great (& super portable) for when the
 kids were big enough.

Hello, and thanks for your inquiry and generosity! At
present, we're still looking for someone to take over
the Philanthropy Chair position for POM - that person
would normally help with this sort of request.
However, you can always contact SF Homeless Prenatal w/
donations like this, and they ARE tax-deductible (I
actually have to find out if we offer that option - I
would think we would be... I'll check!) They're a
 terrific

 organization.http://www.homelessprenatal.org/donate/wishlistAlso,
if you want to re-sell them, you can try Chloe's or
 Peekabootique.

before and after the sale, but not during.

wanted to be sure this message reached the maximum
number of viewers!!] The Club has a number of
important volunteer positions open, that we really
need to fill: * Expert Speaker Series Coordinator
 (organize 4-8 talks/year) * Content Manager (will
replace the tasks formerly handled by Newsletter
Editor) * Philanthropy Chair (some ongoing activity, +
coordinating various holiday drives) * Family Outings
 Coordinator (organize 3 events/yr) * Toddler Support
Group Coordinator (revive this group, which used to
meet quarterly - there's a model in place already,
which just needs oversight.) * Spring Consignment Sale
Team These are all important positions within the
leadership of the Club, and entitle you to participate
in meetings on the running of POM, and its programs
and activities. Please let me know if you'd like more
details on any of the above. Remember, the more
volunteer support the Club has, the stronger and more
robust is will be!! Thanks for considering!! : )
