2. Space Saving Feeding Chairs Advice
--------------------------------------------------------
sfmama09 - 2/23/2012 1:10 pm
All, Feeding/high chair advice please - I have two
different feeding chairsfor my 13 mo old twins - one
that is mounted on onto the table so it savesus on
space but the problem is its tough to clean and my
twins tend to worktheir way out of it even with straps
on so I feel a bit unsafe with it, anda second chair
that's a simple 'space saver' chair because its mounted
ontoa dining room chair - the problem with that one is
that I can't pull thechair all the way in under the
table so it sticks out and takes up a lot ofroom. So,
without a huge investment money-wise, what would you
allrecommend for a 'space saver' type of chairs. I'm OK
with keeping the onethat's mounted on the chair but the
hood-on chair has to go because is notsafe so I have to
find one that doesn't take up much
room.http://www.amazon.com/Chicco-Degree-Rotating-Hook-Chair/dp/B002GD4H6M/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1330031112&sr=8-4http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Space-Saver-Chair-Scatterbug/dp/B005IWM99K/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1330031112)

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends going
beyond a year if you can. Here is the link to the
info:

Congrats to you for breastfeeding for so long!!Don't
listen to those people! You should continue to nurse as
long as you want to. However, now that your babies are
1 and can have cow's milk, you can stop pumping. If you
want to continue to nurse in the morning and at night
and give them milk during the day, your body will
adjust. Just be sure to cut back slowly on pumping to
avoid plugged ducts.I stopped pumping at about 13
months (my son was allergic to dairy and I was
reluctant to give him soymilk, so even though my
daughter got cow's milk during the day starting at a
year, I kept pumping for him, and I built up a freezer
supply so he could continue to get breastmilk for a
while after I stopped pumping), but I still nursed them
until 15.5 months when they woke up and before they
went to bed. It's the best of both worlds -- cuddle
time and no pump! (Although I will admit I grew a
strange attachment to my pump and it was more of a sad
goodbye than the good riddance I thought it would
be).At about 14.5 months, my kids just weren't doing
the bedtime nursing. That's exactly when they started
walking, and they just weren't interested. So we quit
that and continued the morning nursing for another
month, as that was always our special time. Some days
were good, others were bad -- they didn't want it and I
felt like I was forcing them. Finally, one morning was
such a good cuddly feeding that I decided that's how I
wanted it to end, and I removed the floor chair and the
nursing pillow from their room so they wouldn't see
them anymore, and that was the last time.I have a
friend who continued nursing her daughter before bed
until at least 18 months, with no pumping and no other
feedings. Your body adjusts. And after a year,
breastmilk isn't their main source of nutrition, so if
your supply dips and they aren't getting as much per
feeding as they used to, it's not as much of a worry.

yes honua kai - stayed there this past xmas and it was
great. our twins were smaller than yours - 19 months -
but it's a beautiful place and definitely family
friendly. rooms are very nice, beach is nice, and a few
different pool options right there. my nephews are
close in age to your twins and they had a great time. i
would recommend it. also recommend the babysitting
service happykidsmaui.com - we had a few different
sitters from them and all were great.

HI Sarah,I had my mono-di twin boys a year and a half
ago. I live up near Yosemite, and interviewed OBGYNs up
here, in Modesto and SF (9 all together). I was looking
for one who didn't scare the crap out of me. There are
a lot of bad stories of mono-di pregnancies, and most
go just fine. I was aware of only two peer reviewed
studies that were the basis of all OBGYN
recommendations to induce at 36 weeks. I read those
studies and they were very small. I can share them with
you if you want to see them. I chose not to be induced
because I felt the risks did not warrant induction in
my case. I carried to 38 weeks and was induced because
my bloodpressure went through the roof (pre-eclampsia).
This is somewhat mediated, I've since learned, by
eating A TON of protein each day- like 200grams.
Elizabeth Noble has written about research on protein
in the diet and how it's associated with less
pre-eclamsia in twin pregnancies research in her twins.
Book "Having Twins and More". I interviewed several
highly recommended OBGYNs at CPMC, St.Lukes and UCSF.
The ones at CPMC were all very adamant about induction
at 36 weeks. No flexibility. I went with Dr. Patti
Robertson. UCSF has about 30 doctors that do deliveries
on a schedule, so the chances of you having your doc.
during the delivery are slim. I had a doula/birth coach
who helped me a lot. My husband has supportive but in
shock. Dr. Robertson was very very supportive,
understanding, and was the only OBGYN I interviewed and
worked with who actually listened to me. : ) So
important to support those mamas during the pregnancy.
I hope you have lots of support, and I offer you mine
as well. Best,-Darca Morgan209-532-0929

With boys you need to make sure to buy a potty or seat
WITHOUT a splashguard. They can scrape their penis on
it, ouch! www.babycenter.com has a lot of useful potty
training info under their toddler section. Their is
even a slideshow of the most popular potty's and their
pros and cons.Good luck!

we bought all kinds of potties, but these were acutally
the best (we have 2
boys).http://www.ikea.com/us/en/search/?query=+Children%27s+pottythey
are so cheap you can buy them for all over, we didn't
have splashing at all with them and the kids didn't
stick to them (like some of the others, the insert
would stick to their legs and when they got up, urine
everywhere.) Easy to clean etc. Good luck!

Congrats to you thinking about potty training while
your boys are still so young. However, with kids that
small, they probably won't be getting on and off the
regular toilet themselves for quite some time, so you
may want to consider a small chair rather than a seat
that goes on the big potty. My kids are almost 2.5
(potty trained since last summer, 22 months for son, 23
months for daughter), and I still have to help with
pants and lift them on and off of toilet. We started
with two Elmo potties. Good thing about these: the top
comes off and fits on a regular toilet and the potty
part becomes be a stool, and it has a great splashguard
(even with splashguard, my son still pees everywhere if
I don't actually force him down -- "point wiener down"
was a catchphrase in my house for many months. Best was
when he kept telling his sister to do it). But the
negative outweighs the positives, which is that it's a
big hassle to get the bowl out to dump it. So these
were short-lived and after a few weeks we just put the
Elmo seat on top of the regular toilets. (and the kid
waiting his/her turn to go can sit on the Elmo stool.)
We also had a blue Bjorn potty. I loved it -- good
splashguard and super easy to clean. But it wasn't as
fun for kids as Elmo, and once I decided to just put
them on the regular toilet even though it meant I had
to lift them on and off every time, I got rid of the
Bjorn. (actually, it's in the closet somewhere, it's
yours for free if you want it, just email me)We have
this
one:http://www.diapers.com/p/the-first-years-pooh-soft-training-ring-29994at
my parents' house, and I LOVE it (great splashguard),
but it doesn't fit all toilets well. We also have a
Kalecom Potette for the car, and it's indispensable
(but must be very careful about pointing wiener
down). To sum it up: little potties are annoying because
you have to clean them, but for young/small children
it's nice that they can get on and off by themselves.
However, young/small children usually need help with
pants anyway, so if you're helping them pull pants up
and down, why not just lift them onto big toilet with a
seat on it.
