1. Martial Arts Classes for Four Year-Olds?
--------------------------------------------------------
hilaryandwendy - 1/2/2012 10:14 am

Hi--I'm looking for a judo or karate class for our four
year-old boy, preferably not clear across town from
Glen Park. Most programs start kids at 6, but I wanted
to see if anyone knew of any programs for younger kids.
 Thanks!Hilary

I have two of the larger ones -- pea pod plus. We LOVE
them. You are welcome to borrow them. I'll even give
you a little demo on setting up/refolding them (it's
tricky to refold them until you've done it a few
 times).Erin415-699-0509erin_loback at yahoo.com

At age 4 months, we had just decreased from two to one
night feeds (around 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. were the two at
the time) when our doc encouraged us to stop night
feedings all together. Because not only of their age,
but their weights and abilities, in her opinion, they
were capable of sleeping through the night and did not
need the night feeds but were eating simply out of
habit. We initially tried the method of cutting back
on ounces offered at each night feed but in the end,
the most effective method was just stopping offering
them food cold turkey. There was some crying it out
but they were sleeping through the night in a week. It
helped that we had a separate room for me to seclude
myself in for a week while my husband slept next door
and listened to them cry and looked at the monitor to
make sure they were okay. It wasn't easy but it made
our lives much easier and more sane, and the babies
sleeping more and for a long solid stretch at night
made them (and us) happier during the days. They are
now almost 8 months and we have had a few setbacks (the
rollover stage was the biggest issue for us) but
overall, they are great sleepers and generally sleep
from 7:30p.m.ish until 7 a.m. without feeding in
between. They will definitely let out a few cries here
and there during the night but are usually great at
soothing themselves back to sleep. In terms of that
last feed of the night (7 p.m.) it is usually their
biggest meal of the day - both nursing if I am home and
taking anywhere from 6-8 oz in the bottle on top of
 that.
