Amy,The amt of diapers you got through with twins is
SHOCKING. In the beginning, we were changing 22 times
per DAY. We did not go the cloth or compostable way
(pls don't flame me!) We actually had to increase the
size of our black trash can and pay $55/ month to fit
just the DIAPERS in. Each week the diapers alone used
up a normal sized trash can. (So you can add that calc
in to your "cost savings calculation".)Also, as an
aside, just wait for the explosive poops to come flying
at you. I developed mad, Keanu Reeves, Matrix-like
ninja skills to avoid getting hit in the chest by
flying projectile poops! Nick got me once and Gibson
got Dad once--cleaning up the bedroom and showering is
no fun at 3AM. hehehe! BUT TWINS are soooo much fun!
My boys are at the stage where they are babbling to
each other through the crib slats and passing lovies
back and forth. Super CUTE. Good Luck! Feel free to
tent mail me if you have any specific twin Qs.

We use Tiny Tots diaper service for our twin girls (4.5
months). I used it with my older daughter as well, but
we stopped the service when she went to a daycare and
we had to send her with paper diapers to daycare.
Cloth diapers are really easy once you get the hang of
them. They do take a little longer to change than
paper diapers, but diaper changing time is quality baby
talk time. I'd rather be interacting with them on the
changing table where they can see me and look at me --
than have them not interacting with me... The first
few times you change cloth diapers -- you have to get
used to putting them on -- it is a bit awkward. But
like anything in life, you learn fast. :-) And I can
do it pretty quickly now. We use the diapers as burp
cloths and extra warmth (like a blankets) in a pinch.
One of my twins spits up constantly and so we find the
cloths quite handy. One down side to cloth diapers is
having to clean the diaper covers. I really and truly
don't mind cleaning the diaper covers, but some people
find it annoying. We also buy and use disposable wipes.
So we keep two bins next to our changing table - one
for cloth diapers and one for everything else. We use
paper diapers for when the twins are sleeping at night
because we find that paper diapers are more absorbent
for 11 hour stretches. As soon as we could when they
were born, we try to stop changing diapers at night so
that the babies don't wake up as much.... And now I
only change at night if there is some crazy blowout
which is usually parental dressing mistake and not
baby's fault. We have a back stairs and we throw our
bags of cloth diapers out on the back stairs until we
put them out for tiny tots once a week. They give you
plenty of bags (add that as a savings) and we chuck
them out whenever it is full or smelly. Tiny tots
gives you deoderizers for free at any ask for your
cloth diaper bin.I think the cost of paper vs tiny tots
is just about the same. But the amount of paper diapers
and black can trash is just so depressing.... Try to
visit someone who is using cloth diapers. All of your
questions can be answered by watching someone change a
diaper or two. Everyone who has helped us was timid,
but they figured it out. We have paper diapers there if
they want to not bother and they never have not been
able to figure it out.....
