1. How to pay a nanny during travel/flight time when taking her
w/us on vacation?
--------------------------------------------------------
anonymous - 7/30/2012 9:41 pm
We are taking a nanny on a trip with us this week to
the east coast. Her normal hourly rate is $20/hr. She
is claiming that I should pay her for 11 hours the day
we fly, basically from the minute she leaves her apt to
the minute we arrive at our destination in CT. I was
prepared to pay her for about 6 hours at $20/hr but 11
seems like a lot. Work during the trip will be not the
same as being alone with my 2 kids (twin 2 year olds)
b/c I am there and my sister (an experienced mom) is
too. Is she being reasonable or not? Thoughts??

Wondering if any families of multiples have taken their
babes to Legoland and if you think there's much for
them to appreciate at 15 months? We'll be nearby and
would be easy for us to go there if it's worth the
visit. I'm having a difficult time navigating the
website to see what there is to do at that age.

I'd say skip it. 99% of the attractions are for older
kids & you'd be disappointed after spending a lot of $$
on 2 adult admission tix. (Assuming kids that young get
in for free.)Take them instead to a playground or a
beach you can all enjoy for free & spend your $$ on a
babysitter & a nice dinner out.MarcyWill & Mia

We frequent Legoland regularly and LOVE it! We started
taking our twins at around 20 months until now (4) and
have been around 30+ times. Ideal age to go is around
3ish or (36 inches). It is still fun at the young age
however they will not be able to do very many rides.
Once they reach around 34" is when that can do more. We
love it because it is very entertaining and you can
spend time there doing other things as well-
playgrounds, movies, water play, small rides, lego
sculptures, running around. The park is extremely kid
friendly, clean and safe. It makes for a fun afternoon-
plus under 3 is free.

5. Dream feed or drop a feed?
--------------------------------------------------------
magtwo - 7/30/2012 6:38 pm
Hello, I would love input and advice on the next step
in the evolution of our feeding schedule. My B-G twins
are 3.5mos, he is breastfed and she is mostly
bottle-fed (by my partner). Currently we get ~6hrs
sleep… so it's not terrible. One major issue is that
each feed takes more than an hour. My daughter is slow
with the bottle, my son currently gets fussy and cries
a lot with breastfeeding sessions -- lots of
stops/starts (hopefully just a phase!), and I pump
after each session. My daughter wakes around 6:30, and
we feed them every 3 hrs during the day (nanny does
9:30 and 3:30, I try to come home for lunch to
breastfeed at 12:30). Evening feeds are ~7 and ~10:30,
and after pumping I am in bed by midnight. I am trying
to decide if we should convert the last feed to a dream
feed, and then slowly phase it out, or if we should in
one step drop from 6 daily feeds to 5, increasing the
interval between them, with the last around 9. We have
experimented a bit with dream feeds, with decent
success, but this can only be done if I forego
breastfeeding my son, because he never remains
calm/sleepy while breatfeeding. If we just drop the
last feed, we we may be in for some very early
mornings, but I guess we won't know until we try. I am
wondering what others have done at this stage to work
toward a full night of sleep?

6. Bunk Beds
--------------------------------------------------------
dalehill95 - 7/30/2012 5:00 pm
I'm looking for some advice/feedback from some parents
of older twins who might have used bunk beds. My girls
just turned 4 and we're looking at getting twin beds
and are thinking of bunk beds, because the girls are
sharing a smallish bedroom (yeah, SF!) but I'm
concerned about 1) safety i.e. falling from the top
bunk and 2) battles over the beds i.e. both wanting the
top bunk or the bottom bunk. Also, if anyone has any
recommendations for places to purchase, other than
Ikea, that would be much appreciated.Any
thoughts?Thanks,Dale

7. Best Twin Diaper Bag
--------------------------------------------------------
sfmama911 - 7/30/2012 1:53 pm
We have twin girls (3mo) and a 4 yo and we need a great
bag when we're out of the house all day on the
weekends. I'd like it to hold at least 4 bottles and
maybe our 4yo's water bottle also. I looked through
the archives, people seem to like the DadGear backpack.
Any other recommendations? Any problems with the
DadGear bag? Would be great if it would clip onto our
City Select or our Citi Mini Double as well. Thanks!

We've been using the DadGear backpack for over 3 years
now and it's still going strong. My twins are a little
over 3yo and their big brother is 4yo and it's kept up
with all the different stages they have gone through.
Right now it's primarily full of spare Pull Ups, extra
clothes, water bottles, lunch/snacks, first aid kit,
and sunscreen. I still use the wipes dispenser, but
occasionally find that the contents have dried out
because we're using it less often. It hangs really
nicely from the back of our City Mini Double and BOB
