1. Expecting moms: Anyone interested in an additional breast
feeding twins class?

jeccat - 5/10/2012 10:23 pm

Hi all-- I attended the UCSF Breastfeeding Twins or
More class at UCSF last night (Wednesday 5/9) and left
wanting more practical tips and information about
breastfeeding multiples. I was especially impressed
with the short breastfeeding section of the Expecting
Twins class my husband and I took on April 26th--
Carole Hansen is both a lactation specialist and a mom
of twins herself, so she really knows what she's
talking about!I contacted Carole and asked if she might
be interested in teaching a private class. Is anyone
else interested? I would be willing to host for 3-4
other couples/moms-- just let me know!

2. Reminder: How Multiples Affect Marriage: 5 Steps to

Multiples can place a huge amount of stress on
marriage. Most studies show that marital satisfaction
starts to plummet with the arrival of the first child.
With multiples it can plummet even more! Yet, there are
many things that couples can do to communicate
productively and to resolve conflict. In this workshop
we'll discuss the most effective strategies to maintain
or restore intimacy, communicate productively, and
strengthen your marriage. We'll talk about:* Common
gender differences around sex and intimacy* Best and
worst ways to resolve conflict* How to communicate in a
way that actually gets you what you want* Best ways to
resolve differences around parenting* How to know

I would recommend talking to neighbors. We found out
that our neighbor's daughter babysits (and worked at a
pre-school, etc), so we decided that she is a good
choice for us (across the street, only $12 per hour, we
know where she lives ;-), and given that we don't plan
to leave until after the babies are asleep, we're ok
with her being 14). Anyway, when we posted to our
"neighborhood website", we got 5 responses - all
neighbors within 3 blocks who have babysitting
experience. So I would recommend that - no fee, close
proximity. Our neighborhood website is www.nextdoor.com
 - it's a pretty good website, sort of a Facebook or
Bigtent for neighbors, if you want to get it started in
 your neighborhood...
