hi my 2 yo daughter has had difficulties going to sleep
since day one that continue to this day. her twin
brother gets tired and generally falls asleep easily.
she is the night owl and he is the early bird. their
whole lives. at the moment, things are particularly
bad, where she takes forever to fall asleep. last night
2 hours!! tonight is not looking so good, either. i
guess my question is does anyone else have a similar
kind of situation? any ideas? i don't want them to go
to bed any later, because they need to get up in the
morning and because my son gets tired. i don't see
splitting up bedtimes as possible for my sanity. it is
possible we aren't responding in the proper way, but
she does not respond well to cry-it-out and she seems
like she is trying to sleep. a phase? any thoughts?

2. Daycare or Preschool options

Hi there,My husband and I have 3 week old twin boys.
We have the vague notion we should have signed up for
daycare or preschool when pregnant (we actually don't
know the difference between the edu options prior to
kindergarten) and are looking for recommendations on
options and ideas on approx cost. We have a strong
preference for Montessouri method and Cantonese
language immersion both in SF and Palo Alto area.Any
insights would be much appreciated.Max

Preschool is really for older toddlers, 2.5 or 3 years
old. For infants or younger toddlers, the general term
is day care. Please note that a high-quality day care
for two infants will be roughly equal in cost to a
nanny ($3500/month+), so you may wish to evaluate a
nanny as an option in addition to day care.

We kept the hospital bands on (doing only one is
probably the best idea) and then painted the big toe on
one after the hospital bands came off. It was funny in
the beginning, we did mix them up. We know because one
had a bruise on the butt, so we would just check that.
They have been nearly the same weight since birth, only
ever a difference of 3oz around 3 months. They are
five months now and it is getting easier but I still
question my judgment when someone hands me one.

I was worried about this, too, when I was pregnant. I
even packed some nail polish in my hospital "go" bag.
I laugh at this now because one turned out to be a
blonde; the other is a brunette.
