1. Vasospasms
--------------------------------------------------------
CEmama - 11/13/2012 12:50 am
Anyone else currently or previously suffer from
vasospasms? I initially thought the pain was
associated with a bleb but realized later it was nipple
trauma induced vasospasms. Instead of nursing often
and applying a warm, wet washcloth -- the remedy for a
bleb, but just awful (awful!) for vasospasms -- I have
stopped nursing on the affected side and apply dry,
warm heat after the first morning pump, which is when
the pain is the fiercest. This has helped but now
going on 2 weeks, I'm wondering how much longer this
will last. Has anyone else had vasospasms and how did
you deal with it and how long did it last for you?
Were you able to nurse after healing?

2. Transitioning back to work
--------------------------------------------------------
CEmama - 11/13/2012 12:42 am
I'm going back to work in a week and am a little
apprehensive about the transition. I was hoping those
of you who have done this already could help provide
advice for transitioning back to work and making it
easier on me and my twins who will be 5 months when
this happens. Any things you're glad you did, wish you
had done, or learned along the way? I may have to
option of coming home for lunch. Is this recommended
or should I stick with a shorter lunch and shorter work
day? One thing I'm doing is having the nanny come
aboard full time while I'm still at home to get my
twins who are becoming stranger wary used to her. Any
other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!

3. Paying nanny "over the table"
--------------------------------------------------------
CEmama - 11/13/2012 12:38 am
I just hired a nanny and want to be aboveboard on tax
withholdings, social security, medicare, etc. How
painful is the paperwork and process associated with
doing this? What are the steps? Should I hire someone
to do this for me or is it manageable to do on my own
(no more than 8 hours of research and completing and
submitting forms)? Looking ahead to April 15, I have
in the past used TurboTax to file my taxes. Do my
taxes become significantly more complicated where I
should look into hiring a CPA (I also purchased a home
in 2012)? Lastly, can anyone recommend a paycheck
cutting program or website and CPA? Thanks for any
insight!

Between 4 and 5 months we got on a pretty solid 3-nap
schedule -- 9ish, or no more than 1.5 hours after
waking, 1ish and 4ish. For us, the first two were long
(1.5 hours or more) and the third one was never longer
than an hour. They kept this schedule until about 7
months, when they started "playing" through the third
nap and so we eventually dropped it. The other two naps
got longer, and the evenings were just fine (I was
worried it would be tough with them awake from 3ish
until bedtime at 7, but they were just fine). I have a
7-month-old nephew and he has always been a short
napper -- if he sleeps for an hour my sister says it's
a miracle. He currently takes 3 30- to 45-minute naps
(and then sleeps about 13 hours at night). My sister
says because his naps are short, there's no way he's
ready to go down to two. So maybe taking longer naps
like yours are doing is a first step to being able to
cut back to two naps.I would say if they want to sleep
in the afternoon, I wouldn't discourage it. They could
then get overtired by bedtime, and that can lead to
difficulties getting them to sleep. I kept putting
mine down for the third nap at the usual time until
they were very consistently not going to sleep at all.
I think four months is a bit young to go down to two
naps.
