There are three valid states for the rice cooker: unplugged and
empty, filled and in "cook" mode, and filled in "warm" mode.

Note in particular that "empty and plugged in" and "filled and off"
are invalid states.

There are two valid states for the dishwasher: closed, and open and
jujed.  Please do *not* open the dishwasher if you're not going to
juje it, it adds a bunch of work for me, just leave it closed.
