New Balboa Skate Park is Totally Sick Yo (Translation: The Kids Really Like It)

A crowd of skateboard enthusiasts, both the young and young-at-heart, were on hand
on Saturday, September 29, for the grand opening of the new skate park at Balboa
Park. The skate park project, a partnership with the Trust for Public Land, was
part of a larger renovation of the park that included the construction of a new
playground, resurfaced tennis courts, new picnic areas and improved pathways and
landscaping. The $391,000 skate park was funded in part by the Community Opportunity
Fund, a program of the 2008 Clean and Safe Neighborhood Parks Bond that allows members
of the public the opportunity to apply and receive funding for smaller capital projects
at their neighborhood park. A special thanks to Supervisor John Avalos and Supervisor
Scott Wiener for their continued support of our parks. Next time you're in the area,
stop by Balboa Park and "Get out and skate!" Watch our video here! [http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?e=001LRCjhJznq7CfVMuJKAfQgVyXxOVKQBXhS33VL-GrvNHdJIgJ78RHsAfPJiKC_qc-CqsCZDAC_pA8iMz72tgv_8CSe_pqsp8_r6JcS1Pcyav672DzSUlFiYOQz62S64fbrgX3EjS5kwuvNrtbTwYGAw==]
