Scaregrove Halloween Event this Saturday, October 27

It's a spooky good time at our annual Scaregrove event this Saturday, October 27,
from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., featuring carnival rides, haunted houses, live entertainment,
games and food for sale. $8 per person for an all-access pass.  Children under 24
months are free. Pre-sale tickets are available at the McLaren Lodge Annex (501 
Stanyan Street in Golden Gate Park) M-F from 9am to 5pm up until Friday. Log onto

The New Fulton Playground Opens on October 30

Join us for the grand opening of the newly renovated Fulton Playground, Tuesday,
 October 30, at 11 a.m.  District 1 Supervisor Eric Mar, DPW, SF Arts Commission
 and Argonne Elementary School and Richmond District Neighbors will join Rec and
 Park for a ribbon cutting ceremony and fun in the park!

Dew Tour Leaves Civic Center Crowd Breathless

The Dew Tour extreme sports competition at Civic Center sparked oohs and ahhs from
the crowd last week, as competitors soared through the air performing seemingly 
impossible tricks and jumps on their BMX bikes. The event finished on an equally
 high note on Sunday, when the Dew Tour hosted a Community Day for city youth, while
Mongoose donated 28 BMX bikes to Rec and Park for its recreation programs. See all

Last week, Mayor Ed Lee and Supervisor David Chiu announced new changes to  the 
city's Open Data legislation that will go toward furthering the  city's efforts 
toward more accessible information and government  efficiency.

As an  example of the use of open data, Rec and Park is proud to launch its new 
 FREE mobile application for iPhone. Our new app allows users to search  for parks
and facilities, browse for events, and makes volunteering,  reserving a picnic area
and donating to our department easier. You can  also search and rediscover the 45
pieces of public art located in Golden  Gate Park.
