Celebrate Mission Playground's Grand Reopening on September 15

Saturday, September 15, 2012, at 10:30 a.m.
Special Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 11 a.m.
Join Supervisors Scott Wiener and David Campos, San Francisco Recreation and Park
Department General Manager Phil Ginsburg, the City Fields Foundation, neighbors 
and park advocates for the grand reopening ceremony of Mission Playground. The event
will include a ribbon cutting ceremony, music, food trucks, an outdoor picnic and
fun games for children and families.
The newly renovated Mission Playground includes two children's play areas, a clubhouse
for SF Rec and Park's Inclusion Center, and athletic fields funded by the City Fields
Foundation.  The overall Mission Playground renovation is funded by the 2008 Clean
and Safe Neighborhood Parks Bond.
American Sign Language interpretation will be provided.  If you would like to request

Break the Guinness World Record for the Most Soccer Balls Ever Dribbled at One Time!

Join us on Saturday, September 29, 2012!

UNITING SOCCER COMMUNITIES

The Great America SCORES Soccer Dribble will unite the Bay Area soccer community
 with soccer communities across the nation by bringing together thousands of soccer
enthusiasts in nine other cities to break the Guinness World Record! The record 
is currently held by the UN with 2,068 simultaneous dribblers. All proceeds from
 this event benefit the youth of America SCORES!

CANDLESTICK PARK- HALLOWED GROUND

The Great America SCORES Soccer Dribble record-breaking activities will take place
at 2:30 p.m. on the field of Candlestick Park.  Soccer cleats are NOT ALLOWED on
 the field!

ACTIVITIES, FESTIVITIES, AND CONCESSIONS

In addition to breaking a world record, the Great America SCORES Soccer Dribble 
will feature individual soccer competitions hosted by iSoccer, as well as a wide
 variety of concession stands hosted by local and national organizations, soccer
 clinics and demonstrations, live music, and much more!  Event festivities will 
run from 1-4 p.m.

Youth Flag Football Passing League Kicks Off This Fall

Join our fall Flag Football Passing League for boys and girls, ages 8-10 and 11-12!
This is a non-contact passing league, designed to build fundamental development 
of passing plays and proper technique. Games will be held on Fridays from 4-7 p.m.,
at Boxer Stadium at Balboa Park.  Championship games will be held at Candlestick

Take a Tour of Historic Candlestick Park!

Sports fans, take advantage of a unique opportunity beginning this fall. Sign up
 for an hour-long tour of the one and only Candlestick Park Stadium, home of the
 five-time world champion San Francisco 49ers and former home to the San Francisco
Giants. Get a behind-the-scenes look at the team locker rooms, take in the view 
from the luxury suites, and run on the field and reenact "The Catch," the famous
 Joe Montana-to-Dwight Clark play that launched the 49ers into their first Super
 Bowl.

Tours are available Monday through Friday, at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., and on Saturdays
at 11 a.m. Times and dates are subject to change due to field preparations during
the football season. (Tours will not be offered two days prior to each home game.)

Prices: $18 for adults; $15 for students, seniors (62+) and military/veterans with
valid ID; and $12 for children ages 4-17. Children under 3 are free.

Sunday Streets Returns to the Western Addition on September 9

Sunday Streets is heading back to the Western Addition on Sunday, September 9! From
11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the city will transform the streets into a car-free space where
people from all over can walk, bike, hula hoop, dance, and just have plain ole fun
in the streets. The route includes Fillmore Street between Fulton and Geary, Fulton
Street between Fillmore and Baker, Baker Street between McAllister and Grove, Grove
Street between Broderick and Central, and Central Avenue between Grove and Fell 
Street (map attached).
There will be all kinds of activities happening: The REI climbing wall; St. Cyprian's
Church is hosting kid's activities; Free bike rentals by Parkwide LLC; Free bike
 repairs by Mike's Bikes, Sports Basement, and REI; Zumba by Brenda Perdue, The 
BBoy Connection, Hip Hop dance lessons, Funkytown Roller Disco; and tons more! The

Teen Actors/Singers: Open Auditions for Godspell on September 21, 22

Teens, join us for open auditions for our next production, Godspell, on September
21, from 4-7 p.m., and September 22, from 12-5 p.m., at the Harvey Milk Center, 
at 50 Scott Street.  Rehearsals begin in October and performances are in February.

*	Prepare a song to sing and bring the sheet music for the accompanist (provided)
*	Prepare a monologue no more than two minutes long.
