New Balboa Skate Park Opens on September 29

Come celebrate with the Trust for Public Land, Rec and Park, and the skateboard 
community at the grand opening of Balboa Skate Park on Saturday, September 29, from
noon to 5 p.m.  Come enjoy skate exhibitions and demos, giveaways from local skateboard
merchants, and free food.

Salesforce Gives Some TLC to McLaren Park

A giant 'thank you' is owed to our friends at Salesforce, who recently volunteered
their time cleaning and beautifying McLaren Park.   Each year, the San Francisco
 Recreation and Park Department relies on more than 147,000 hours of volunteer time
in our parks, helping us keep our parks clean, safe and fun for everyone.  For more

Video Contest: Help Say Bye Bye to Bullying

To recognize Anti-Bullying Awareness Month, the Women's Steering Committee of the
San Francisco District Attorney's office announces the office's first video contest
for students to address bullying and harassment in school.  The purpose of the contest
is to increase public awareness about bullying amongst students and to encourage
 youth to discuss bullying more openly and develop positive responses to bullying.
 The competition submission period runs from October 3, 2012 to November 7, 2012
 at 11:59 p.m.  A panel of judges will evaluate the videos in one of three categories:

(1) (General) What is Bullying? Create a video addressing what bullying and harassment
mean to you.

(2) (Effects) Effects of Bullying. Create a video addressing the impact of bullying
or harassment.

(3) (Responses) Effective Ways to Respond to Bullying. Create a video about positive
responses that teachers, administrators and/or classmates can provide to address
 bullying and harassment at school.

Tech-Savvy Scavenger Hunt on September 29

Bring your friends, your sense of adventure, and your smartphone and be ready to
 have fun and support San Francisco Public Schools. The first annual citywide Tech-Savvy
Scavenger Hunt is happening Saturday, September 29 as the conclusion to the Support
SF Public Schools Week. Gather at San Francisco Civic Center Plaza downtown at 12:30
pm to receive your team's mission & your zone assignment. Our goal is to have 1,000
participants, and the team who completes the most missions correctly wins, and so
does the team with the best costumes, the best school spirit, and more!
