Some of you might remember former SFPOM member, Denitza
Blagev... She is a pulmonologist with twins + 1, and
the family moved out of the area some time ago, but
just sent me a link to a piece she wrote for her blog.
It's about how they made their decision regarding
getting genetic testing done when they were expecting
their twins. If you're interested, you can read it
here:

Hello all,We're considering a family trip to the Grand
Canyon (kids would be ages 12.5, 12.5, and 9.5). Has
anyone gone there in April? If so, how was the
weather? Also, if anyone would be willing to share
their family's experience, I'd love to ask a few
questions.Please respond to kelly94127 at yahoo.com
instead of Reply/Big Tent as I'm better at direct
emails than logging into Big Tent. Appreciate
it.Thanks,Laura Kelly

Hi everyoneI am a new member and mother of B/G twins 4
months old. I am an Aussie relocating to San Fran in
mid may for 3 months. I have no idea how much nannies
are paid over there so hoping someone could give me an
idea/range. The nanny would be working with me most of
the time rather than looking after twins solo.Looking
forward to meeting some of you when I am over there.
CheersAnnette

It's not an organiation or donation center per se, but
there is a parent on the Bernal Parents group
collecting donations for a single, recently unemployed
mom-to-be. I just gave her all my newborn diapers and a
can of formula. She's located in Glen park, but may be
able to come pick them up. Email liamurph at yahoo.com if
you're interested.

Thank you all for your support and valuable feedback! I
thought I'd share the results of my searches here so it
might help others in a bind.I posted a plea to the
Bernal Heights Parents Group, and was referred to a
neighbor who is an experienced nanny and is now
training to be a doula, so it's the perfect combination
of someone who is between a nanny and a doula. We are
bringing her in for a trial one day this week, and
she's only $18 an hour. Because availability on such
short notice is our main limitation, we have cobbled
together a care schedule this week of multiple doulas I
had hired or interviewed before and this nanny-doula
combo lady I just met. The doulas are $35-40 an hour,
but I could really use the lactation support and
reinforcement this week as I get back in the saddle as
a MoM.For our second week, nobody could commit to all
five days, so I contacted the T+C R agency Natalia
suggested. They are a bit pricey, but the $150 one-time
signup fee gives us access to their applicant pool for
good, so it may be worth the investment. Temp nanny
care (the service they suggest) would run $18-20 an
hour plus a 35% referral fee back to them.Assuming that
twin infants would put us on the high end of the pay
range, we'd pay $20+$7 an hour for pre-qualified
help (they confirm all shots, background checks and CA
drivers license). That's still less than the $35-50
we'd pay for a daytime doula, AND they do all the hard
work finding and screening nannies. Given all that's
gone on this past week, it was terrific to just fill
out a form, give a credit card number, and let someone
else do the busy work. For ad hoc support the following
week, we can hopefully use this new nanny-doula lady to
help me step down from all the help.Providers we plan
to use:Regula KellerVikki Dinsmore (nights)Christina
Coleman (nights)Anna SeileyT+C R Agency NannyI knew
parenting multiples would require some project
management, but these first two weeks alone have
illustrated that in a big way. Thank you all!!
