I am posting for a friend whose 1 year old has started
having what the doctors think is breath holding spells.
Basically, whenever stressed or upset, the baby holds
her breath until she passes out, turns blue and starts
convulsing, then within less than a minute she is back
to normal. The doctors are still running additional
tests, but are pretty convinced this is what they are
dealing with. My friend asked me to reach out to the
sfpom community to see if there is anyone who has
experienced something similar and would be willing to
connect with her.Thank you all very much in
advance,Kaska

Hello,the babies (B / G) are now 5 months+ one week.
they are eating more and more and I supplement with
Formula for the 4pm feed i the dinner feed. we have
been using Similac Advance. I have been looking for
good organic one but I cant find a good one that does
not have SUGAR or CORN Sirup or some other very bad
ingredient despite the "organic"...what are you using?
thanks!

I shared your frustration. We used Earth's Best, which
is significantly more expensive than most brands, but
it was the one we felt was the best choice based on our
concerns about corn syrup and non-organics. I was
astounded about the sugar as well but I was told that
breast milk is mostly "sugar" and that is what the
babies need. Here is a quote from a NY Times article
(that was largely about how bad sucrose in formula is!)
"All infant formulas contain added sugars, which babies
need to digest the proteins in cow's milk or soy. Other
organic formulas, like Earth's Best and Parent's
Choice, use organic lactose as the added sugar. Organic
lactose must be extracted from organic milk, the global
supplies of which have been severely stretched in the
last three years, driving up the price of the lactose."

+ 1 for Earth's Best organic. Our twins are now 9.5
months have been exclusively formula fed since birth
since I cannot breast feed for medical reasons.
They've been extremely healthy and have been growing
like weeds (knock on wood!). We had a few
gas/constipation issues in the very early months but
toughed it out mostly because I could not find another
formula I believed in (for what it's worth, probiotics
seemed to solve most of our gas problems). I highly
recommend.

we used earth's best dairy (red can) too, along with
infant probiotics added daily to the girls' anti-colic
bottles
