Annual Summer Resource Fair on Saturday, March 9

DCYF, SFUSD, the Rec & Park Department and GoKid will host the  annual Summer Resource
Fair at Everett Middle School on Saturday, March 9  from 10am to 2pm! The Fair is
a great opportunity to find out about the  multitude of summer camps, programs, 
and other summer options available  to the youth of San Francisco. Over 150 exhibitors
from around the City  will attend the Fair, representing programs for youth from
 Kindergarten  through high school. There will also be presentations on how to combat
 summer learning loss, an information session on the Kindergarten to  College program,

Join Graffiti Watch and get the supplies and training needed to help fight graffiti
vandalism in your neighborhood.

Graffiti Watch is a partnership between the City and its residents to keep graffiti
off our streets and sidewalks for a safer and cleaner San Francisco. Graffiti Watch
empowers individuals or groups to take ownership of a heavily-tagged four-block 
area in their neighborhood and remove graffiti from public property such as utility
poles, mailboxes, trash receptacles and other street furniture. In return, DPW provides
training and tools.

Removing graffiti quickly, ideally within 24 hours, is key to the success of the
 Graffiti Watch Program. It s a proven fact that the faster graffiti tags are painted
over, the less likely it is that the vandals will return. Your vigilance can make
a difference in the appearance of your neighborhood and can discourage other criminal
behavior that graffiti attracts.

Gardener Apprentices in Action

Launched in December 2010, the City's Gardener Apprentice program is the first of
its kind in the state.  In partnership with LiUNA! Local 261, Rec and Park trains
and readies the next generation of city gardeners, ensuring that our parks will 
remain clean and beautiful for years to come. Lunar New Year Celebration in the OMI This Saturday, February 23

Celebrate the Lunar New Year in the OMI. Join the YMCA and Minnie and Lovie Ward
 Rec Center for a Lunar New Year Celebration on Saturday, February 20, at 11:30 
a.m., at Minnie & Lovie Ward Rec Center (650 Capitol Avenue). Featuring giant inflatables,
face painting, arts and crafts, line dancing, lion dancing and tai chi.  Lion Dancing
begins at noon.

Free Mobile Recreation Coming to Potrero Hill This Saturday, February 23

Kids, have a blast at Mobile Rec, where we bring a truckload of excitement to a 
park near you. We provide rock-climbing walls, skateboards and BMX bikes, not to
 mention high-quality Freshpark ramps, rails, and manual pads to help you get your
shred on. Rec and Park staff is on hand for instruction and moral support. Grab 
your gear (or borrow some of ours) and drop-in this Saturday, February 23, at Potrero
Hill Playground, 801 Arkansas Street in San Francisco, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Community Clean Team Event on March 9

Community  Clean Team continues to serve the City of San Francisco after more than
 a decade of volunteering! Clean Team is a citywide volunteer program  that partners
city agencies with residents, merchants and students to  clean and beautify San 
Francisco neighborhoods. Volunteers sweep up  litter, plant and tend to neighborhood
trees, paint out graffiti and  help take care of our schools, parks, and community
