yes! you can do it! have fun! under 12 mos/walking
is SO much easier on flights!my favorite item to pack
for trips: ergos! one for each of you. for each of
you to wear a baby on front in the plane for
takeoff/landing/to sleep on you (and you can sleep too,
confident they're secure!); then, for each of each of
you to wear a baby on back walking all around town at
your destination. wearing on your back is like a
supported piggy back hold, so comfortable, we walk for
miles with our kids in these still (19 months now).
 http://store.ergobaby.com/Baby_Carriers/Original/BC5Swe
brought our double snap n go stroller (inexpensive, i
didn't mind if it became damaged) and our chicco keyfit
30 infant car seats to snap into it. we gate checked
both. (gate checking is much less damaging to your
gear than baggage check.) it was nice to have the
stroller/carseats in the event of flight delays. it's
also nice to have the stroller and car seats if one of
you needs to use the bathroom in the airports, at
baggage claim collecting your luggage, etc. important
is to delay/time feedings for take off and landing if
you can, to keep the kiddos swallowing for their ears
during ascent/descent. even if you don't use pacifiers
normally, you might want to bring some for take off and
landing to wiggle around in their mouths in case they
won't eat, to prompt them to swallow. and helpful
advice my pedi gave me: don't worry if the kids scream
the ENTIRE trip - which they won't! - but even if they
do, you'll NEVER see any of the people on the flight
again in your life. :)have fun. enjoy yourself. the
trip will give you much confidence. it'll add the next
notch in your belt as a capable and rock star mom of
twins! you'll be great! enjoy your trip! if you have
other questions, don't hesitate to ask. best, jen ps -
we bought gate check bags for our carseats and stroller
 - they protect the carseats' fabric from tearing:

 - also, a fun/inspiring book is

enjoy showing your children the world! :)

Ditto everything Jen said, except that we traveled with
two single strollers instead of the snap-n-go (our
twins were already almost too long for it at 8-ish
months and I hated the way it handled). I brought
links to attach the two strollers but ended up never
using them. We have taken our twin boys to the East
Coast twice and Brazil once (they are now 10months).
Travelled at 3, 6, 8 months. The carriers (in our case
Becos) were awesome on our flights - SFO to Houston,
then Houston to Rio. Kids slept most of the overnight
Houston to Rio flight (my main advice is fly at
night!).Strollers were a savoir traveling to a very hot
climate - way too hot to wear the boys all the time.
If a cooler climate, I might skip the stroller and wear
them instead.A large play blanket (we use the Skip Hop
Central Park) was a blessing at the airport between
layovers - we used our luggage as barriers and they
climbed and crawled around (and I could do diaper
changes and put them in PJs without the nasty bathroom
experience).Toys and plane magazines got us through
most of the rest of the flights - as well as pacifiers
/ bottles at takeoff/landing unless they were dead
asleep.Make nice with the gate attendants to see if you
can get an extra seat - it's a huge help (we've been
able to get one on a few cross country flights, but not
the international ones thus far). If you have the $$,
I'm sure the "one seat for everyone" rule would be
great - then you can bring the carseats on the plane
and have somewhere to put the babies while you pee,
sleep, etc.Other advice that worked for us:- Packets
like Plum Organics for food on plane (we had to bring
all food with us bc of our final destination, and those
packets are much lighter than jars)- Disposable bibs (I
actually just bought crazy cheap ones on sale at
Target) that you don't feel bad disposing as you go -
it sucks to get to your destination with a ton of dirty
laundry and things just get nasty en route- Bring
plastic bags for dirty clothes, diapers, etc.- No such
thing as too many baby wipes- Remember
climate-appropriate nighttime clothes and factor in air
conditioning and cold planes- Bring yourself an extra
shirt (at least!) for the plane- Swaddle blankets over
the head are great at night on planes when they keep
all the lights and/or TVs on- Fly a good airline if you
can! United is terrible with kids. Horrid. JetBlue,
Virgin, Southwest are great in my experience. We
survived United to Brazil with the babies but I'd never
fly them again if I could avoid it. And their travel
bassinets were useless for us (wish I'd skipped them
all together)- Figure out if you want bulkhead seats
(they work great for us, not so great for others)-
Going through security, it's easiest to have one of you
carry babies, other handle baggageHave fun!!

Someone on this forum (I forget who, but am eternally
grateful to her) emailed me some nanny onboarding
documents that were invaluable. Happy to email you
ours as well if you want to tentmail me. I found that
having it written down was easier for all of us and
 considerably reduced my stress. Sarah

Now that the babies are on their way to 20 pounds and are
 very aware of their mobility...

hi alessandra, are you breastfeeding? if so, i'm not
sure how to advise at this stage, unfortunately. i
bottle fed, and it was around this time that i bought
the fully tilting/reclining fisher price space saver
high chairs (*note: not all models fully tilt - this
is the correct model that does:
 http://www.fisher-price.com/en_Us/products/52492)it was
a huge leap forward (for me!) to put them each in one
on a kitchen/dining room chair, tilted back (not
dissimilar to feeding each in a carseat or bouncy
chair, but not on the floor!) it was so exciting to
stand up and feed the girls! my back loved it!
actually, i also used the tray to prop their bottles
whilst tilted. then, after milk i'd sit them up and
give them some baby foods, then play and naps! now at
19 months we still use these as our primary high
chairs. hope that helps! best, jen

Topic: 9 month old nap advice -- No CIO

How do you (or your nanny) put your 9 month old twins down
 for a nap by yourself?...

i've been a sahm without a nanny since the girls were
born (7/2011). it took some work, but naps are down to
a science now! you can do it! :)what finally
*clicked* for us around 8 months was sorting out meals,
actually. then naps slid in effortlessly between
 breakfast/lunch and lunch/afternoon snack.- breakfast
whenever they wake between 6-8am [goal being 8, but
we're just getting there now at 19 months]- lunch at
noon. [this took some doing - stretching out the time
 between breakfast and lunch by 2, 5, 10 or 15 minutes a
day over a few weeks - bit by bit - until we made it
to noon. *note: walks in the stroller were
instrumental to successfully distracting the girls to
stretch out the time, if that helps.]- afternoon
 snack/mini-meal at 4pm- dinner at 7-8pm [*note,
eventually you'll move this up to 5pm (bed by 6:30)
when nights start falling apart after they transition
to one nap; shocking that this seemingly drastic change
works after months of the two naps/7-8pm bedtime
working...]like, kaluzoo, i'd put them in their cribs
 awake, with soothing music on, blinds partially closed;
happy peaceful quiet time with me puttering around
humming along with the music playing, while they read
their small stack of board books in their cribs, me
quietly folding clothes and putting them away in their
dresser. goal for me was quiet time, even if no naps
and just quiet play, for 1-2 hours, each nap. hope
 this helps. best, jen
