I picked up a couple of high chairs second-hand, and
used them about 3 times, because they were huge in our
place and even though they were supposed to be easy
fold, it did take some work to get them open. We mostly
fed them on the couch or floor or in our arms.I then
picked up a Fisher-Price SpaceSaver High Chair. It was
ok, but I think truly too young for our then 11 month
olds and because of the arms, it would not fit under
our table. After that, I bought one Fisher Price
Healthy Care Deluxe Booster Seat, and I really like
that one a lot. We got a second as a gift, and our
girls love getting into them for meals. And they clean
up so easily, which is a plus at 14 months when they
really want to be feeding themselves with the spoon,
but aren't quite coordinated enough not to spill it all
over.(We put the SpaceSaver High Chair on the floor in
our playspace, and the girls love playing in it, but
I'm open to selling it if anyone wants it.)

Anyone else?

It's nice to hear other moms feel the same way I did.
I went back to work after 5.5 months, and I KNOW I am a
better mom as a working mom than I would be if I stayed
at home. I know it's different for everyone, but I feel
like I have a great balance. My time with my kids is
100% focused on them. When I have to stay home with
them for extended periods of time or when my husband
isn't around, I feel like I try to juggle kids and
other things (cleaning, email, adult time, etc), and I
don't feel like I am as dedicated to them. I work with
a lot of other moms of babies and young children, and
it's also nice to feel like I have that support group.
My kids are now in preschool, but the relationship they
developed with their wonderful nanny was very special
and I'm happy they had that opportunity. I'm also
excited about every day they spend in school, and they
love being there all day. My kids have turned out ok
so far, and I feel like we have a great family
balance.Glad to hear there are other working moms out
there who are doing a great job at both working and
 being a mom!ErinBrett and Maggie, 9/28/09

I went back to work at around 12 months and it made
everything better. I was happier and lighter to be
around - for my kids and for my partner. My kids have a
loving, fun, energetic nanny who keeps them engaged
during the day - a far cry from the exhausted,
frustrated mother they were stuck with all day before I
went back to work. And I have mornings and evenings and
weekends with them. All is good. I'm pretty sure I did
 them a huge favor.

Your post really reasonated with me. It brought a tear
to my eye because I felt the same way when it was time
to go back to work after 4 months mat. Leave. My kids
are now 2 1/2 yrs old and I love that they have a
little social life outside of us with their nanny and
other kids/nannies they meet every day. I also believe
that a happy mom is the best mom and whatever you need
to do to make sure you stay happy and whole as a
person, you should do and not feel guilty about it.
Thanks for your post...i think we all needed that.

I know just how you feel. There's nothing wrong with
feeling good going back to work and there's nothing
wrong with being able to compartmentalize. - Edith,
