1. Doula for Labor: Recommendations
--------------------------------------------------------
crysinsf - 7/8/2013 4:11 pm
Hello friends, I joined SFPOM about a month ago. Loving
the site. I see lots of recommendations of night/post
delivery doulas, but none for during the laboring
process. My twins are due in November and I really
hoping for a vaginal birth experience vs C-section, and
I've read that having a doula during labor increases
your chances of it. Plus, my hubby and I just might
need someone to help out, advocate for us, and explain
what is going on. Do you have any recommendations?
Thanks!

I delivered at UCSF. Once you are in active labor they
put you in the surgery room just in case of a c
section. In that room I was only allowed 1 person to
join and chose my husband to be there. It would have
been nice to have a doula there for early labor. UCSF
does have volunteer doulas however none were available
during my delivery. Might be worth looking into at
your hospital. Good luck!

3. Newborn Photographer that takes great twins pics?

We are expecting our twins at the end of Aug/beg of
Sept and are trying to find a photographer that takes
great newborn twin pics. We also want to get some good
pics of our (almost) 3 year old son with his new
siblings. Would love recommendations!

I love our newborn photos and the photographer was
great with the babies. I posted a recommendation for
her last month:

5. CARES harness: could a child wear a rock climbing harness
with it?

Maybe this is over the top, but I am wondering if a
child could wear a climbing harness w/ the CAREs
harness to prevent him from sliding under the
seatbelt.Or is this ridiculous?

Topic: Frozen embryos
After 5 years of fertility treatments, we finally had our
babies using donor eggs...

We also have a couple left over blasts and I am so
conflicted about what to do with them. That said, we
were told that they cannot be donated to another couple
unless we had had PGD testing on them - which we didn't
do in our course of treatment. Also, I am not sure that
current legislation allows for them to be donated to
science - but I could be wrong.

I really wonder what my frozen ones would look like in
real life, but after having twins I highly doubt they
will be given the opportunity for this - two is enough
for us. It is weird, as I always wonder what if the
doctor had used different ones for the implant, but
anyway I digress. My frozen ones will be donated to
science. I am very happy that they will be doing
embryonic stem cell research with them (or at least
that's what I'm thinking they will be doing with them.)
I would not just destroy them nor would I give them to
another couple to use, the first is a waste in my book,
and the second one is too weird for me to do.
