I had a very positive experience with Dr. Cedars and
her care team after having a very negative (almost
life-threatening) experience with Dr. Rosen and his
care team. Happy to elaborate on both experiences --
just ping me directly. You'll have to wait for an
appt. with Dr. Cedars but it's worth the wait.

Congrats! We did at UCSF - it is common at this hospital
if there are no complications. They do not push for
 C-section unless necessary.

Hooray! This is all so great to hear! It definitely
can be done, even if it's not the default for many
hospitals. (We, too, had a great experience delivering
 vaginally at St. Luke's, 38w5d, Baby B
transverse/footling breech...) We chose that hospital
because - at least at the time, 4+ yrs ago now - they
were the only ones completely ok with going that route
(UCSF was out back-up - particular docs there felt
comfortable with that situation.) At that time, they
wouldn't let me get out of getting the epidural, but
they let me wait as long as possible, and used as low
doses as they could... I understand they no longer
make people do that anymore. They were generally great
about respecting my wishes (as thoroughly discussed
ahead of time, and backed up in a written birth plan).
Obviously - all sorts of unexpected things can and do
happen - so educating yourself about the various
interventions that might be suggested is important.
You don't want to have to make important decisions
about procedures you've never heard of while in the
middle of labor... and it's good to know ahead of time
what questions you might need to ask, and how... etc.
(Our Bradley birth prep class was BRILLIANT for this
part!)At the risk of being the email equivalent of a
broken record, here's a really terrific link that might
inspire you, if that automatic insistence on/assumption
about C-sections being the only option just doesn't sit
 right with you:
 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7E-wULAaD50Good luck to
everyone out there considering this! As you can see
 -- it can be done!!
