Cabrillo Playground Reopens on August 3

Join Assemblymember Phil Ting, District 1 Supervisor Eric Mar, San Francisco Recreation
and Parks, Friends of Cabrillo Playground, the San Francisco Parks Alliance, city
officials and Richmond District neighbors in celebrating the official reopening 
of Cabrillo Playground on August 3, at 12 noon. This new $4.5 million playground
 was made possible by San Francisco voters who approved the 2008 Clean and Safe 
Neighborhood Parks Bond.

Park and Recreation Month Wraps Up with Annual Summer Play Day

National Park and Recreation Month wrapped up in grand fashion on Wednesday, July
31, as Rec and Park hosted its annual Summer Play Day at Kezar Stadium.  This year's
event, generously supported by Kaiser Permanente, included sports, games, arts and
crafts, and carnival rides for city day campers.

Join the SFRPD gardening staff and Dolores Park Works for a volunteer work party
 focusing on cleanup and park beautification.  Encompassing more than 14 acres, 
Mission Dolores Park is one of San Francisco's most popular parks, the vibrant heart
of its equally vibrant, culturally diverse neighborhood.  RSVP for this event by

Cayuga Playground Reopens August 17

Join us on Saturday, August 17, 2013, at 11 a.m., for the grand reopening celebration
of Cayuga Playground, which has recently undergone a $7 million renovation under
 the 2008 Clean and Safe Neighborhood Parks Bond.
Meet special guest Demetrio "Demi" Braceros, a retired city gardener who spent much
of his career at Cayuga fashioning hundreds of old tree trunks into works of art,
using only his imagination and trusty chainsaw. His sculptures have been preserved
and are on permanent display at the park.
This event is hosted by Rec and Park, the Cayuga Improvement Association, District
11 Supervisor John Avalos, the San Francisco Arts Commission and the Department 
of Public Works.
