1. Bringing home our preemies...advice for the first few days?

Our babies were born 2 weeks ago, at 34 weeks
gestation. They've been in the NICU thriving.
Yesterday, we were told that they could be coming home
as soon as Sunday. I'm excited and nervous all at the
same time. What advice or tips do you have for me upon
bringing them home? My husband and MIL will be here to
help me. But I'm curious about feeding tips, sleeping
tips for me and the babies, and any other thoughts. I
could use some words of wisdom!

Congratulations!! Mine were also born at 34 weeks and
were in the NICU for 16 days and 22 days. Some tips:1.
When they are so little we didn't bother to feed them
at the same time, but if you are able to, then I
recommend doing that.2. Keep them on the NICU schedule
 - feed every 3 hours. (This really should be tip #1)3.
Newborns are LOUD sleepers, get some earplugs. They
grunt and make so much noise in their sleep. Be
prepared to be very tired. 4. You can keep checking
to see if they are breathing, but it's a waste of
energy on your part because they are just fine every
time you check :)5. We kept both of ours in our
bedroom for the first two or so months (they slept in
rockabye sleepers - I have two we don't use anymore, in
case you want them)6. Have your husband and MIL help
with night feedings when they can. Or have everyone
take turns so one person can get some sleep. On the
nights we didn't have a night doula my husband would
take one baby for the night feedings and I would take
the other.7. Hire a night doula if you can - she'll
take care of everything at night so you can sleep.8.
Not sure if your breastfeeding, but I didn't really and
just pumped for 8 months and it was ridiculous. I
highly recommend not pumping for that long - it was
pretty awful. 9. Try and take a shower every other day.
And don't worry if you don't get out of the house much
with the babies at first. Mine were born during flu
season and it took a while for us to all get out of the
house since they were preemies and didn't have the
benefit of my antibodies in the last few weeks of
gestation.10. I'm sure I have more tips, but 9 seems
like a lot now. Email/tent mail me if you have any
other questions. I'm more than happy to help.
