Congratulations! Ours boys were born at 36 weeks and
came home with us - so about the same "corrected" age
once home. I fully agree with all of the previous
posters advice - including that #2 should be #1 - keep
them on the hospital schedule at first, and do try to
feed at the same time. We were (at 13 months still
are) real sticklers for the schedule and it has made
things relatively easy (especially travel). Our main
problems in the early days were getting them to eat
enough (harder with one than the other), general first
time parent jitters (yes, we did check on them
constantly to make sure they were still breathing!) and
keeping them warm (hopefully not a problem with the
heat lately). Ours were not great at maintaining their
heat at first so there was *lots* of swaddling,
blankets, and layers (they were 5lbs 8oz and 5lbs 10oz,
so I'd imagine it's a bit tricky to maintain your temp
at that size). Our night doula was a lifesaver, I'm sure
local family/friends would also be a great help so you
can get at least a 3-4 hour nap in there somewhere. The
other upside of babies at this time of year is that you
can take them out daily if you so choose - at two days
old we brought them to their first sidewalk cafe and we
took them out every day after - it kept me sane. I did
stay out of indoor shops for several weeks at the
advice of our wonderful pediatrician who (when I got
nervous at all the in-laws' strange looks that I took
such small babies out all the time) reassured me that
"The outdoors does not give babies colds. People
do."Enjoy - and please feel free to post any/all
questions! This list helped me a great deal in the
early days. I also have a list of favorite products /
gear for the first three months if you are interested
(mostly dealing with how to feed two babies at once,
gassiness, and sleep).Sarah

Hello everyone -These tips are very helpful. We are
currently 34 weeks with twin girls and hoping to get a
little farther but who knows....Can someone tell me
what a 'rock a bye sleeper' is? I tried googling it and
looking it up on Amazon and didn't find anything. Right
now our plan is to try putting them in one crib and
move the crib near the bed. Do you think it's
absolutely necessary to have additional mini cribs in
the bedroom? Also, at what point did you have to
separate the twins to go in their own cribs? I guess we
can never be really ready until we are in the situation
but any advice or learnings would help!Best,Leah

This is the sleeper:
http://www.target.com/p/fisher-price-rock-n-play-sleeper/-/A-14287618
(I got the name wrong in my first post.)It is not
necessary to have additional mini cribs in the bedroom.
We had ours stay in our bedroom (on the nights our
night doula wasn't working) for about two months, then
we put them in their own room. In our room they each
slept either on us or in the rock-n-play sleeper. When
they slept in their own room they shared a pack-n-play
for about a month or two, then they shared a crib for
another month or so, and we put them in separate cribs
around 3 - 4 months.Congrats and good luck!

We put our boys in one crib (in the nursery, not our
bedroom) from the first day (nursery is approximately
15' from my bed in our tiny, tiny 1-bdrm so...). We
kept them in the same crib for three months, though
started using a crib divider at around six weeks as
they started moving during the night. We also swaddled
until around the eight week mark. Moved to their own
cribs once they started waking one another up and I
could no longer devise crib dividers that kept them
apart (see below). On the topic of crib dividers... I
could not find one that worked with our unique
constraints: twins were *super* gassy and also had
some reflux so I needed to tilt the mattress (which I
found far easier/cheaper than buying baby sleep
positioners which my ped also didn't like for
suffocation risk), and our crib was pretty small, so
the wide dividers did not leave each baby enough
space.So...I bought some mesh fabric online (the kind
they make football jerseys from) reasoning that it was
very breathable. I ironed velcro to each end of a
strip of it and velcroed it around the crib bars.
Worked great!!I also made my own attempted solution and
getting the kids to stop rolling to the bottom of the
crib once we tilted the mattress (which caused them to
get all gassy / reflux-y again) involving velcro to
the back of a swaddle me. My night doula spent a good
while laughing at me before finally admitting that it
(mostly) worked :). For those considering tilting the
crib mattress for gas reasons, it is pretty easy to do
on most crib models by simply setting one side of the
mattress to a higher setting than the other side.Good
luck!

hi priya, at around 7 months i was starting to go
somewhat crazy feeling like all i was doing was feeding
babies. pushing the stroller around the neighborhood, i
listened to 'bringing up bebe' on audiobook, downloaded
to my iphone from itunes. in the book, the american
author expresses her fascination with her discovery
that all(!) french kids (after around 6 months of age)
eat their meals (feedings) with the family at 8am,
12noon, 4pm, 8pm. breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack,
dinner. at the time, i was in dire need of alleviating
some stress from the seemingly endless feedings and
bottle washings! i needed a change. i figured if
(what i refer to as) 'the french national meal plan'
works for an entire nation, it was good enough for
me.so, i began shifting to 4 full meals a day.
breakfast when the girls woke (not necessarily at 8am;
in fact, we've just made it to 8am breakfast recently,
around 22 months). lunch at noon sharp took some
doing, slowly stretching out the morning feeding from
10am to noon, bit by bit over a few weeks, a few
minutes a day, until 120 minutes later we had finally
hit the noon lunch hour! achieving the noon lunch was
huge! morning nap fell in between breakfast and lunch!
was so, so great! can't say how helpful this was!
finally the girls took a really good morning nap in
their cribs! not just in the car, stroller, or swing.
again, after lunch, afternoon nap fell into place,
followed by 'snack' at 4pm (which i treated as another
full meal). then a stroller walk during the witching
hour between snack and dinner - fresh air always
helped! followed by dinner and bed! in sum, i offered
four full 9oz bottles a day at 8am, noon, 4pm and 8pm
(in reality breakfast and dinner were at 7am and 7pm,
not 8 and 8), followed by solids after each bottle.
sometimes the girls drank the full bottles, sometimes
4-6 or 7oz. i always offered a full bottle. caveat
was that the girls were sleeping through the night
(without bottles or dream feeds) before starting this.
hope this helps!best, jen at 7 months, breakfast was
usually around 6-7am shortly after the girls woke.
stretching out the window from breakfast to lunch was
hardest and it took a few

hi! we have the diono radian rxts. love them. so
happy with purchase. our girls (22 months) love them.
we have them forward facing. they love looking around.
the girls seem very comfy in them, and haven't minded
long rides in them. i love that they fit low to the
seat of the vehicle so the girls can easily climb into
their own carseats. and i love that they're narrow, so
a third adult can fit in the car when we have guests.
we've been VERY happy with the purchase!best, jen

Ditto Jen. I debated this so much. The dionos are a
bit tall, which is a slight problem in our station
wagon w/ 6'2" hubby and rear -facing , but it was
better than all the alternatives we looked at. Boys
love them (despite horrible carsickness, they still
like getting in the car. Me on the other hand...).
