These posts are great. Thank you all for the info. My
babies were born at 34 weeks, one week ago. They're
doing well in the NICU, and are in the growing and
feeding stage. Sarah, I would love to have your lists
as I'm still scrambling a bit to get ready for their
 homecoming.

hello...Thank you for all the good advice. Sarah, I
will take those tips on products you used during those
first few months. We were advised not to have the twins
sleep together. Their room is so small that we only put
up one crib, given that is what we read about most
people doing for the first couple of months. Did anyone
else hear this advice? Our pediatrician recommended that
we take them out for a walk everyday. However, she
wanted us to have a stroller that is completely flat.
This is contrary to everything else I've read and
prepared for. We only bought a snap and go. What other
advice did everyone else receive when leaving with
their preemies from the hospital?thank you!Lisa

 congratulations! has anyone mentioned anti-colic
bottles to you? we used the tommee tippee ones and i'd
swear they were critical in reducing
 reflux/colic/spitting up/etc.

also, we had one crib set up in our room that they
shared for the first few months. nice to have that
crib right beside your bed so you can roll over and
check on them without getting up and walking into their
room. easier to get back to sleep...we also had a
lalapanzi, which i adored. often, if one woke up, we'd
put her in it and bring her downstairs with one of us
for the rest of the night. we didn't have a night
doula. so, for the first few months we ended up mostly
switching babies every night. one upstairs in the
crib. the other downstairs in the lalapanzi. next
night, swap babies. that way my husband and i each got
some sleep. with the babies together in the same
location the wakings seemed endless. can't recommend
 the lalapanzi enough.
 http://www.shop.lalapanzibeds.com/ we bought the pink
cotton one for our girls.during the day they napped in
it together while i was downstairs. or, one in the
swing and one in the lalapanzi, then swap, etc. if you
have any questions, just let me know.best, jen

curious what reasoning your pedi gave for the flat
stroller? either way, you may want to buy these baby
blankets. they're big! so, they cover the full
carseat/stroller/etc. so helpful to keep people from
sticking their faces into the stroller. you're not
going to believe how often that happens! but having a
light muslin blanket draped over them so people can't
see them usually helped to keep folks at bay! :)these
are 44"x44" square. much bigger than most

 blankets!http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4001836&cp=2255957.2273443.2255986.2256249.2256259&green

Lisa - I have never heard either of those things from a
pediatrician or parent of twins. Our babies slept
together for the first couple of months in the same
crib and pack-n-play. Once they started moving around
a little/getting too long to sleep sideways in the crib
together we moved them. I have also never heard of
them needing to be lying flat when out for a walk- that
actually will be uncomfortable for them if they have
some reflux. And it will be pricey as I think the only
stroller that does that with two bassinets is the
Donkey which is like $1800 or something like that. We
took ours out in a double snap-n-go and the Baby Jogger
stroller with infant adapters for their car seats until
they were almost 8 months old. ps. don't feel bad if
you don't get out everyday, it may be hard to do this
every single day and you're ped may have said this
more for your sanity than anything. Luckily yours are
born when the weather is nice out, but sometimes you
just may not be able to make it outside between all of
the feedings, changings and lack of sleep and that is
 OK :)

hi! at 22 months our kids still supplement with
bottles, though i do think we could soon migrate to all
solids and be fine. as long as they're drinking bm or
formula (for nutrition), i wouldn't worry at 11 months.
 migrating from bm/formula only > bm/formula plus
 solids > solids plus milk/formula/bm > solids
only is, in my opinion, a two year effort. just takes
time. there will be better days than others. at 11
months i was still offering four full bottles of
 formula a day - 9oz each at roughly 8am, noon, 4pm and
8pm. i offered bottles first to make sure the girls
got their nutrition, followed by solids after each
bottle to introduce them to different flavors and
textures. sometime after our girls turned a year, they
started rejecting the noon bottle, so we cut that one
out and went to solids only at lunch. then after we
went to one nap, dinner/bedtime got moved up to
5pm/7pm, so we cut out the 4pm bottle. now at 22
months, i still offer a bottle in the morning and a
bottle at dinner. i still always do it before solids.
i'm sure we could cut out the morning bottle tomorrow,
without problems; it's coming any day now. the
nighttime bottle...not sure when that will
end...probably soon too...kind of sadly. the girls are
growing up. :)hope this is helpful! best, jen
