1. Neighborhood grocery stores
--------------------------------------------------------
lwmtay - 3/4/2013 9:25 pm

Hi-I am trying to compile a list of neighborhood
grocery stores - big or small- that offers a good
 selection of family-friendly, organic items....e.g.,
Canyon Market, Haight Street, etc. If you can, please
let me know the stores you love in your neighborhood.
 Thanks!Linda

 We used Mark from the

 Childproofer:http://www.childprooferstore.com/index.htmlHe's
great, reliable and a dad of twins himself.

I also recommend Mark. He came out and did an
assessment, then we ordered everything through him and
he came back and installed it. We mostly went with what
he suggested, but I think we declined just a few
things. It's totally worth it, especially if you have
cabinets you want to put latches on and gates to
install -- so nice to have someone else take care of
 it.

5. Nanny that does not drive-anyone have that situation and how
do you handle it?

anonymous - 3/4/2013 11:12 am

Hi all, We really like our nanny and our 13 month old
twins love her as well. However she does not drive
which is turning into a huge pain as they are becoming
older and need more activities etc? She takes them to
the playground everyday which is very close to home. I
would love it if she could take them to Cal Academy etc
during the week and this will become more important as
they grow older. We do some classes on weekends, but
it gets too crazy and it would be good if they could be
spaced out more. We live in the Innner Sunset in an
area that is close to nothing essentially, so walking
to the park etc is out. I cannot imagine being able to
handle 2 kids on the MUNI? Do any of you have
experience with this issue? How do/did you handle this?
I am thinking we should move, but finding a suitable
place is not that easy. Any ideas would be greatly
 appreciated. Thanks!

Our boys are only 10 months but our nanny also does not
drive - so mostly looking for advice on this one as
well since I'm guessing this gets harder as they get
older. For now, she takes them to the park (one of
three) every day and she used to take her previous
twins on the Muni to the Academy of Science. We do
have some classes w/in walking distance, so I'd imagine
we'll try that (we live in Noe, so can walk lots of
 places).

I think a lot depends on where you live... there are a
surprising amount of parks, playgrounds, rec centers
and libraries around - usually a bus ride away at most
(& now double strollers ARE allowed on Muni... check
the coverage on our Facebook page if you haven't seen
it already.) You might invest in a monthly FastPass
for her, if your nanny (& you) are comfortable with
taking the kids on public transport. Is there any chance
she drives but just doesn't have a car, in which case,
she could maybe use yours (but you should check/adjust
your insurance accordingly if you do that.)And/or -
maybe there are some other nannies (of singletons)
nearby that could maybe include them in a carpool on
occasion? The GGMG (Golden Gate Mothers Group) has a
really excellent, comprehensive parks listing --
hopefully you can identify some places near you that
you might not have been aware of before. Check that
 list out here:

 luck with this!

9. Adjusting nanny hours when preschool begins
--------------------------------------------------------
sfbamob - 3/4/2013 6:30 am

Hi everyone,Does anyone have advice on what to do with
nanny hours once kids go to part time preschool - in
our case, 4 days/week, morning through lunch? We'll do
drop off, but we'll need someone for afternoons/early
evenings and one full day a week. Has anyone had
experience finding someone for these types of hours or
did anyone find a good solution with their FT nanny at
the time, like we have? Many thanks for any input
