Mobile Rec Teams Up With Access To Adventure
Join our Mobile Recreation team from 10:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m.for a day of play at the
Golden Gate Park Music Concourse, Bandshell (between the Academy of Sciences and
the De Young Museum). The Mobile Rock Wall will tower overhead for a fun-climbing
challenge. In addition, BMX bikes, Skateboards, and Freshpark ramps, will be ready
for you to ride and grind on.

Volunteers are needed for the San Francisco Botanical Garden's Annual Plant Sale
on May 3and May 4. Lots of helping hands wanted to make the biggest fundraiser
for the Botanical Garden a success. This is a fun, fast-paced event with a variety
of different volunteer jobs. Sign up for the Friday night sale, 5-8 p.m., or the
Saturday sale, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.. All shifts have a wonderful volunteer buffet and

Upcoming SF Nature Education Events Beginning this Weekend, May 4
Heron Watch at Stow Lake
Saturdays May 4, 11, & 18 - 10:00am - 1:00pm
Naturalists and interns from San Francisco Nature Education will be stationed at
the observation site with spotting scopes, ready to offer spectacular views into
the Great Blue Heron nests and answer questions. Come experience the excitement
of these four foot tall birds with six foot wingspans flying in and out of the nests-brooding
the chicks, feeding the chicks, etc.
Observation deck is open from 10am to 1pm - FREE
Naturalist led walks from 10:30am-noon -- Observe chicks and other nesting birds
from various spots around the Lake and Strawberry Island. Terrain is flat. - meet
at observation site. Adults: $10, young adults and children free.
Birding For Everyone
Saturdays May 4th & June 1 - 10:00am - 12:00pm
Naturalist will lead a hike through the exciting microhabitats of the SF Botanical
Garden and spot a variety of local and migratory birds. Meet near the bookstore
inside the main gate of the SF Botanical Garden in Golden Gate Park (MLK Drive near
9th Ave. at Lincoln). Free field journal provided to children. Please bring binoculars
if you have them, and a pencil for recording bird sightings.
Adults $10, children free, no one turned away.
Birding for Kids & Families
Saturdays June 1, July 6 and August 3 - 10:00am - 11:30am
Meet at front gate of San Francisco Botanical Garden, 9th Avenue at Lincoln Way,
for a guided bird walk for children 5 to 12 years of age. The Saturday walk begins
with a mini-class-show and tell on calls and songs, beaks, bones and wings etc.
This monthly program is oriented toward young students and their families. All youngsters
must be accompanied by an adult. Free field journal provided to children. Please
bring binoculars if you have them, and a pencil for recording bird sightings.
