Reaching New Heights

On September 9, the Zoo received a female giraffe from the San Diego Safari Park.
She will be six years of age in October but has already reached the height of our
other resident adult females, who are nearly twice her age. She's now enjoying acacia
leaves with her new herd-mates through the fence at the south corral of the Osher
Family Giraffe Barn. She will surely make a wonderful addition to the African Savanna

Creepy, crawly, slimy, and scary! Bring the whole family for a Halloween-themed 
evening at the Zoo and learn why some of these Halloween residents get a bad rap.

What happens in winter? At our wildly popular Zoo Camp, children ages 4 years through
fifth grade will enjoy learning about hibernation, migration, camouflage, adaptation,
and more. Zoo tours, interactive projects, games, and crafts, are all part of the
fun. And don't forget plenty of play time on our newly re-opened Elinor Friend Playground.
