There are a lot of different opinions about when is the
best time to introduce solid food, but the nutritionist
I talked to when we were considering starting solids
felt pretty strongly that it's best to wait until 6
months, but definitely not sooner than 4 or 5 months.
The babies' digestive systems aren't best equipped to
process "real" food, and it can upset their gut flora.
Formula is designed for infants, so hopefully should be
easier on their systems. Also, if they don't like the
bottle, a bottle with something solid in it will be an
even bigger adjustment. And you might have to give them
a quicker flow nipple, or make the hole larger, so the
cereal can get through. All of that might be
particularly disruptive for middle of the night
feedings. If you're worried about lactose intolerance,
you could go with a dairy free formula... All that
said, our twins were terrible sleepers. We were given
all kinds of suggestions, including to give them
heavier formula/add rice cereal/etc., and none of it
made a difference. We ultimately hired a sleep
consultant (something I had never contemplated), after
months of no improvement. You're not too far away from
instituting some sleep training, if that's something
you're comfortable with. (I THINK the sleep experts say
 3 months and/or... 13 pounds? It's been a while, and I
was so addled from sleep deprivation that I can't
really understand how we kept any of us alive.)Happy to
chat more if you want. I totally get it. It will get
better - hopefully soon! Good luck!

Many terminologies are used by new moms to describe a
night postpartumdoula or a newborn care specialist. The
goal is to look for a qualified professional to care
for your newbornwhile you are healing after delivery,
someone who's able to ease yourtransition into
motherhood educating, guiding and teaching you a lot
ofamazing things to become a successful parent.Summary

for Ana . Ana served as our NightNanny (Doula) for 3
mos working a consistent schedule Sunday
 throughThursday from 10pm-6am, a total of 40
 hours/week.She successfully sleep-trained our 6-week
old twins to sleep 5-6 hourintervals providing a much
better balance in our family's personal andprofessional
schedule.I have the utmost confidence to advocate Ana
 for employment specificallyfor newborns. Considering
her core focus is to care for multiples andpreemies, I
trust she is beyond capable in that capacity.Though her
main objective was to care for our twins during the
night, Anawas also extraordinarily helpful in assisting
with household chores (i.e.laundry, dishwashing, etc.).
Every morning Ana greeted me and my husbandwith a smile
as well as a very detailed list of our twins
eveningactivities including the exact time of feedings
from start to finish, exactamount of food intake, his
bathroom specifics, and any other details suchas
hiccups, gas, fussiness, cooing, smiling, etc.I found
her to be reliable, responsible, patient, pleasant,
dedicated, andvery personable. She is a wonderful
woman, incredibly sweet, and veryknowledgeable. She
always impressed me with newborn care recommendations
aswell as discussing her ongoing continuing
education. Our family feels truly blessed to have had
this experience with Ana. Thelove and genuine care she
had for our twins was unparalleled.Sincerely,Please

We don't have a video monitor, but I've heard great
things about Dropcam. I thought about a big, octagon
pen/gate (mostly for outside), but it seemed like it
wouldn't be big enough to keep the kids happy. I think
it's actually easier to pick one room/space in your
house and make it totally babyproof, and then put a
gate on the door to that room, so you have one totally
safe play space for the kids. We got a large gate and
put it around our entertainment center and another one
around our computer/desk area. It's made of adjoining
panels, so I think you can make it as long as you'd
like, but I'm not sure how you would anchor it, unless
you attach it to a wall. I'm actually sitting right
next to it (on the computer!) but I have no idea what
brand it is. We hired The Babyproofer, who is super
nice and the father of grown twins. He was helpful - he
sells the products and will install them quickly, at a
pretty good rate - but you can certainly get everything
he sells more cheaply on Amazon or something like that.
But it's nice to be able to talk to him if you want
 ideas or suggestions.Good luck!

I think you just have to declare it when you're going
through security and be prepared to open it. Depending
on the airport they seem to have different screening
technology. One airport just put my bottles (of cow
milk, but I assume they treat it the same) into a
machine. Another asked me to open the bottles so they
could test the vapors. Either way, just try not to
 stress out!

Hello--I delivered at UCSF last August--I was told from
the get go that I had to deliver in the operating
room---regardless is there was a planned C-section or
not--I ended up having a planned C-section. Baby A was
breech. Not sure how long they would have let me labor
in the labor room before taking me to the O.R. They
were very clear that only one support person would be
allowed in the O.R.--meaning no Doula.Good luck:)
