If you have boy/girl twins, ~1 yo, in shared care,
please go to classifieds and look at the photo I took
today in the street. These kids (I assume they are
twins?) were left unattended in the street while the
nanny went to pick up another child. I can't be sure
for how long, but long enough for me and another girl
to stop by and start wondering whether we should call
the police. Just posting it because I would like to
know if they were my kids. If you are the parent and
you'd like more details, please e-mail me.

This may not be the answer you're looking for, but we
were having very similar problems with our 10 month old
boys. Just this past week we did another round of sleep
training and letting them cry. We did this at 7 months
too, but it had fallen apart. The first 3 nights were
MISERABLE with way more screaming and crying than the
first time, but on night 4 they were both asleep (in
the same room) after just 3 minutes. I hate the crying,
it breaks my heart, but it's the only thing that worked
for our guys. My advice, if you want to try this, is
making a plan and promising to stick with it for 3 or 4
days. If you don't see any improvement then maybe try
something else. Good luck!! We all go crazy without
 sleep :)

Thanks for the info! Did you guys do the full CIO or
the CIO where you go in after increasing intervals? How
long did they cry the first few nights before they
finally fell asleep? I absolutely hate the crying! We
tried it when they were a few months younger too, but
didn't have success with one of the twins and just gave
up after that. We are thinking of giving it another
shot but wanted to hear about what others have done
first. Again, thanks for the advice! =)

I don't know if I any of us have THE answer. We all
just ask what others do, try something and then try
something else if that doesn't work. We did sleep
training at 6 months that failed. Then we did it again
at 8 months and was pretty successful. We did CIO
going in at intervals to quiet. What we learned was
they would cry harder when we went in so we stopped
going in to quiet them. At some point we separated
them because they were waking each other up. Sleep
training for us took 7 days and it was not easy but it
made things easier in the long run. I also had to make
their bedtime up. I was trying to make bedtime 8 but
they started getting tired at 7 and if I waited until 8
they would not go down very easy. Once I moved bedtime
to 7 they went down much easier. They were just over
tired by 8. The one thing that has helped us the most
is keeping a vey set schedule. Naps, feedings and
bedtime only vary by 20 mins any given day. We also do
the same routine for bed and naps. Book, bottle (only 1
oz at nap time) and sing 2 songs while rocking then put
them in the crib with their comfort toy and walk out.
They are 9 months now and sleep from 7-6:45 with a
dream feed at 11. Keep in mind that is ideal and not
every night is ideal. Lately, one of our boys is
getting up between 2-3 to feed. Hope some of this
 helps. Good luck.

Thanks mitsia! It's actually really helpful! I will
definitely show my husband this because we differ on
what time we think is the best time. He feels 8:30 is
better while I feel the need to make it earlier. I'm
getting the feeling that we will are heading towards
another CIO attempt, along with stricter napping/eating
 schedules.

We have that Graco, we barely used it. I also have
special sheets for the pack and play that do not get
undone. If you would like to have both, please tentmail
 me. :)

Thank you both. We just survived 2 nights in a hotel--
it went swimmingly (!!!??!!). I was freaked out because
they were in the same room as us, but i guess it also
allowed for quick action if one seemed to be getting
agitated. Last night back home.... Argh. Our girl was
up/down from 1:15 to 4:20 (is it not sad I *know* what
time it was?), it was like she just could not settle :(
On the positive side, I was able to avert what looked
like the beginning of night terrors for our boy, and
was able to transition him back to a different sleep
state. I'll chalk that up as victory, and just go to
bed really early in case we have a bad night repeat.
