OK, which means I can't go to the social thing, which means J and I
need to take separate cars.  Because if I go to that thing we
wouldn't be leaving until like 20:00 or so.

Which is certainly survivable, but if the house can afford a few
hours of Frankie, I think Jen would really appreciate it.
