Mandarin and Chinese culture while having fun with arts

parents start looking for summer camps early in the
year, so I'm finding that a lot of them are already
fully booked by now. But here's one that still has
openings if anyone is interested. It will run for 2
weeks in July from 9am to 3pm, and extended early-care
& late-care will be available. I visited there
yesterday to check it out and they have a nice facility

Here's a bit more of what I know. This is the first
year that CCC is running this Manadarin summer camp. I
chose to sign up my twins after developing comfort from
visiting their facility earlier this week. A lot of
other Mandarin summer camps were running out of
residential homes whereas this one seemed very
professional in a nice facility with substantial
resources and staffing. They're inside the Hilton Hotel
in Chinatown. They have a beautiful modern art
gallery, auditorium and gift shop on the 3rd floor, and
they have their administrative offices and meeting
spaces on the 4th. It's apparent that CCC has
substantial funding from large corporations to fulfill
their mission of preserving/promoting Chinese-American
culture.I met Darin Ow-wing, Director of Education &
Engagement who is in charge of the summer camp. In
addition to his work at the CCC, he runs a business
based in the East Bay called Language Alive that has
after-school Mandarin language programs and summer
camps. He's bringing one of his teachers to SF to run
this summer camp, so although this is the first time at
CCC, I trust that his organization knows how to run
this type of program successfully. His bio is here:
http://www.c-c-c.org/menu-about/staff/staff-director-education/Their
philosophy is that language is best learned by children
if they're engaged in something fun instead of through
repetition and drills. So the kids will be doing arts
