1. Mentoring Expectant Twin Parents
--------------------------------------------------------
lmcdowell - 5/30/2014 4:01 pm

When Carin was facilitator of the New and Expecting
Parents group, she started a mentor program setting up
twin parents with those still expecting. Many of you
took advantage of the opportunity and I'm sure gained a
lot of insight in a few hours spent with your mentor
family, and probably a lot more than reading a
bookshelf full of twin books. As the new facilitator of
the New and Expecting Parents group, I definitely want
to continue this program. I know in the beginning, it's
so easy to question if you're doing anything right, but
before you know it, you find your rhythm and make
juggling two look easy. Some of us had to learn
everything the hard way, but let's spare others the
tedious trial and error process! The program aims to
match up expecting families with families that have
made it through the first couple of months and would be
willing to invite a parent-to-be over to their home for
a half an hour or so to show them around, talk about
how you set things up initially and what changes you
made over time, talk about baby gear essentials and
show tips and tricks for wrangling two babies and
getting out of the house successfully. If this sounds
like something you're interested in, please reply to
this post in the following format:1. Provide or Receive
 mentoring: 2. Neighborhood:3. Availability:4. Best way
to contact you:5. Special Interests: (triplets, single
parent, twins + toddler)6. Mentors - Experience (for
example, exclusively pumping, low milk supply, NICU
babies, managing the nights without help, strict
schedule, etc.) Mentees - Special requests for
pairing (SAHM, working mom, using family help, etc.)7.
For expecting moms, due date:You can also contact me
 directly at lauren.mcdowell at ymail.comEven if you're a
new mom and don't feel confident you 'have it all
figured out', still consider mentoring. I bet you know
a lot more than you think and would be immensely
helpful to an expecting family.I also want to put the
option out there for current twin moms to receive
mentoring -- if you'd like to be connected with someone
with twins who are slightly older. If you're stressing
out about how to childproof your home, or how you'll
handle two walkers at the park, I'm happy to try to
find the right match for different situations. Just
 reply as listed above.

available to us FREE, to distribute to members, so I'll
be bringing a batch to the Family Outing this . If you
are able to grab one for a fellow POM member that can't
make it, but that you see regularly, please do! I'll
have a membership list w/ me so we can keep track. There
is also an App version of the same thing -- I'll be
posting info on how to set that up soon.If you are

3. Paid Parent Survey Opportunity

nataliasha2004 - 5/30/2014 10:47 am

Passing this along, in case any of you might be a fit
 and interested:********************** Need MOMS for
Unique Paid Market Research Session Hello, my name is
Debbie Freedberg from Alphabuzz. We are a national
market research firm and I am hoping you can help me
with a project I am working on in SF for moms. We are
conducting a research study in the Bay area regarding
television shows and shopping. The purpose of the study
is to learn more about the influence of popular
childrens' TV shows and shopping in people's everyday
lives. We are looking for MOMS with children ages 2-12
that live in San Francisco or the Peninsula. The first
part of the study is a 45 minute video chat that pays
you $100. This does require you to either use Skype or
Google video (it is free to set up an account if you do
not already have one.) From the video chat, they will
select several people to participate in a 3 hour
interview and shop-along to a favorite store that pays
you an additional $250. As always, your participation
is completely anonymous and your information
confidential. These studies are strictly for market
research and no sales attempt will ever be made as a
result of your participation. If you are interested in
participating, please take a moment to fill out the
following brief questionnaire and we will call you with
details if we can use you for this
 one.https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/TVShoppingDFDeb

Ugh, sounds awful. This has only happened to me for a
single night, when I just got bad sleep. Usually I try
staying in the room and rocking with the upset twin
until she calms down enough to go back in bed. Whenever
one wakes up the other always does, so the 2nd girl
gets a few minutes of rocking too. If it was going on
multiple nights in a row I would resort to re- sleep
training. Basically just let them cry it out and hope
that after a couple nights they'll stop waking.

Hi - this is more question about your Boulevard, as we
just started using the same model for our twins about a
month ago. We've found installing them isn't so bad
with the lap belt. If you flip up the seat padding, you
can see/reach the belt as you string it through the
 hole.Is your particular problem with
installing/removing due to getting it tight enough, or
is the LATCH system more difficult? I'm just wondering
if there is indeed an easier model out there for the
grandparents and nanny to use.FWIW, we ordered and
tried the Maxi-cosi Pria alongside the Boulevard before
we ordered the second Boulevard, and boy, was that seat
a pain in the a$$. Also, WRT lap belt vs. LATCH
connectors, when we did the CHP installation of our
infant seats, the officer there suggested always opting
for the lap belt, as it can withstand the heavier seats
 being made these days.
