SoMa West Skate Park and Dog Park Officially Open
South of Market friends and neighbors joined city officials for a celebration event
on Sunday, October 19 marking the official opening of the new McCoppin Street Hub
and the nearby SoMa West Skate Park and Dog Park. The projects were part of the
SoMa West Improvement Projects, a multi-agency collaboration led by the Office
of Economic and Workforce Development, Supervisor Jane Kim, San Francisco Public
Works, Recreation and Parks, Real Estate Department, Arts Commission, Caltrans,
Municipal Transportation Agency and County Transportation Authority, as well
as community participation by groups like the Valencia McCoppin Neighborhood Watch
and the of San Francisco Skate Association. The projects have turned areas under
the Central Freeway into popular, usable public spaces in a neighborhood with very
little open space.

Fencing World Cup Hits the Mark at Kezar Pavilion
The Men's Foil World Cup Tournament at Kezar Pavilion in Golden Gate Park this past
weekend was a huge success. Olympians, world champions and top fencers from 32 counties
