 Randall Museum.

The Fantasticks, book & lyrics by Tom Jones & music by Harvey Schmidt, is the world's
longest running musical - just now closing its run after over 52 years of entrancing
generations of audiences in Manhattan. The Fantasticks is a funny and romantic musical
about a boy, a girl, two fathers and a wall. The famous score, which includes the
classics  "Try To Remember," "They Were You" and "Soon It's Gonna Rain," is as timeless
as the story itself.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 1:30 p.m. on Sundays. Admission

IPM Specialist Receives Innovator Award

With more than 220 parks and over 4,100 acres of park land to oversee in an urban
environment here in San Francisco, it often requires innovation, creativity, dedication
and a deft touch in eradicating pests from our system while protecting our environment.

The San Francisco Recreation and Park Department's Integrated Pest Management Specialist,
Kevin Woolen, recently accepted an IPM Innovator Award from the California Department
of Pesticide Regulation for his unique prevention and eradication techniques, which
include:
-- Pioneering the use of vermi-compost and teas derived from it to eradicate pests

-- In partnership with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, eradicating
the invasive African Clawed Frog at the Lily Pond in Golden Gate Park by adjusting
the PH level in the water
-- In partnership with the Department of the Environment, facilitating a pesticide-free
environment at Sharp Park Golf Course to help protect the California red-legged 
frog, a threatened species
-- Effectively controlling a roach problem at the historic Conservatory of Flowers
using a HEPA filter vacuum and roach predators

Heron's Head Park Trail Walk

In collaboration with SF Recreation and Parks and the Healthy Parks, Healthy People
initiative, join professional guides on an interpretive walk to admire the San Francisco
waterfront as we follow a short section of the Bay Trail. The walk will begin in
 the mini-park next to the Heron's Head Park parking lot at 10:00 am. Don't forget
to bring water, hats, and sunscreen!

Stranded! at the Conservatory of Flowers Kicks Off on May 8

Stranded! Tropical Island Survival

At the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park
May 8 - October 18, 2015 (Closed Mondays)
When that three-hour boat tour goes horribly wrong on your island vacation in paradise,
a plant might just save your life. Many a famous castaway has survived an unexpectedly
long stay on a deserted island by lashing palm fronds together to build shelter,
 harvesting the clean water found inside bamboo, fashioning a snare from a vine 
and more.
In a new exhibit entitled Stranded! Tropical Island Survival at the Conservatory
 of Flowers in Golden Gate Park, visitors "wash up" on an uncharted tropical shore
to learn the ins and outs of island survival. Strolling through a living jungle 
of life-saving plants, they discover the best sources of building materials, food
and water and see examples of structures and tools-all created with a touch of castaway
kitsch. Fun survival facts fill the gallery, including tips for climbing coconut
 trees and more.
