of Unplugging (NDU), sundown to sundown, March 6-7.

Get out and play with SF Rec. & Park for fun unplugging activities throughout the
day, including volunteer cleanup days, community events, free trail walks, Zumba

Reboot's National Day of Unplugging is once a year but it is designed to  remind
 us of the importance of unplugging from our devices (phones,  tablets, computers,
etc.) regularly at times throughout the year to  refocus our attention on the world
around us and reconnect with family,  friends and ourselves.

Rec and Park's unplugged activities are in partnership with the San Francisco Unified
School District and San Francisco Children, Youth and Their Families.

Panama Pacific International Exposition Centennial Celebration Kicks Off

This past weekend, thousands of people - families, history buffs and admirers of
 the Panama Pacific International Exposition (PPIE) - celebrated the 100th anniversary
of the 1915 World's Fair at the iconic Palace of Fine Arts with special events honoring
a seminal event in San Francisco's rich history including light shows, exhibits 
and performances.

The World's Fair celebrated the completion of the Panama Canal and showcased San
 Francisco's recovery from the devastation of the 1906 earthquake and fire and its
emergence as a global city

Sunday Streets Kicks Off on March 8

The 2015 Sunday Streets season is just around the corner. Come explore the Embarcadero
between Fisherman's Wharf and AT&T Park on March 8, 2015. Between 11 a.m. and 4 
p.m., the northbound lanes will be open to walk, skate, bike, dance, and enjoy the
waterfront.

section of San Francisco? Are you interested in being a youth leader and promoting
park stewardship? Do you enjoy working with the community and want to have an active
role as a youth leader and advocate for your neighborhood parks and rec centers?
 Do you enjoy breaking a sweat outdoors and getting your hands dirty? Then we want

Gardener Apprentices Prune Concourse Trees

The city's Gardener Apprenticeship Program was recently out at the Music Concourse
in Golden Gate Park for the annual pollarding of the area's 180-plus sycamore and
elm trees.  Each January, the whips, or year-long growths on the trees, are removed

SFYBL Opening Day at Kimbell Athletic Fields on February 28

The San Francisco Youth Baseball League (SFYBL) Opening Day Ceremony will be held
at Kimbell Athletic Fields (Geary Blvd. and Steiner) on Saturday, February 28, from
10 a.m.-2 p.m. The ceremonial first pitch of the season will be thrown at Diamond
#1 at 11 a.m., followed by a parade of teams around Kimbell stadium. After the parade,
there will be some fun activities and baseball competitions for the kids.  For more

Science Saturdays at the EcoCenter at Heron's Head Park on February 28

Science Saturdays are creative, cool, nature conservation programs at the EcoCenter
in Heron's Head Park. They are fun for all the family and FREE. Through March 2015,
the first 15 children (ages 4-12) each week will receive a free ticket to Aquarium
of the Bay! Tickets are first come, first served, so be sure to show up early. The
EcoCenter is located at 32 Jennings Street.

Tween Fashion Show on March 5

The 8th Semi-Annual Tween Fashion Show is on Wednesday, March 5, at 5:30 p.m. in
 the ballroom at the Harvey Milk Center (50 Scott Street). Participants are students
from the Tween Fashion Star class. The class teaches tweens to "unleash your inner
fashion designer by learning to build with yarn, print, embellish, draft basic patterns,
sketch, style and accessorize." Students learn innovative techniques from three 
master textile artists and fashion insiders. The fashion show showcases students'
