Over a year ago, we started a mentor program setting up
parents of multiples with those still expecting. Many
of you took advantage of the opportunity and I'm sure
gained a lot of insight in a few hours spent with your
mentor family, and probably a lot more than reading a
bookshelf full of twin books.I know in the beginning,
it's so easy to question if you're doing anything
right, but before you know it, you find your rhythm and
make juggling two look easy. Some of us had to learn
everything the hard way, but let's spare others the
tedious trial and error process! The program aims to
match up expecting families with families that have
made it through the first couple of months and would be
willing to invite a parent-to-be over to their home for
a half an hour or so to show them around, talk about
how you set things up initially and what changes you
made over time, talk about baby gear essentials and
show tips and tricks for wrangling two babies and
getting out of the house successfully. If this sounds
like something you're interested in, please reply to
this post in the following format:1. Provide or Receive
 mentoring:2. Neighborhood:3. Availability:4. Best way
to contact you:5. Special Interests: (triplets, single
parent, twins toddler)6. Mentors - Experience (for
example, exclusively pumping, low milk supply, NICU
babies, managing the nights without help, strict
schedule, etc.)Mentees - Special requests for pairing
(SAHM, working mom, using family help, etc.)7. For
expecting moms, due date:You can also contact me
 directly at lauren.mcdowell at ymail.comEven if you're a
new mom and don't feel confident you 'have it all
figured out', still consider mentoring. I bet you know
a lot more than you think and would be immensely
helpful to an expecting family. And I think it's
especially helpful for those expecting to see how 2
newborns are managed.I also want to put the option out
there for current twin moms to receive mentoring -- if
you'd like to be connected with someone with twins who
are slightly older. If you're stressing out about how
to childproof your home, or how you'll handle two
walkers at the park, I'm happy to try to find the right
match for different situations. Just reply as listed
 above.
