We took the folded Dionos on a collapsible luggage cart
and then installed them front facing. Our kids were 23
months at that time, I am not sure at what point you
can do forward facing. The Dionos were heavy but much
better than lap, coach in size when not used and we had
no experience with the CARES harness. Because our trip
had 15 hours of flight each way plus car trips it was
 the best solution.Alessandra

We have the diono but felt they were way too heavy to
take on the plane. A lot of people I know travel with
the Cosco Scerena. Its really cheap, really light, and
very safe. We ended up buying an Eddie Bauer to travel
with (my parents use it in their car and it just seemed
more comfortable for the kids than the Cosco). The
Eddie Bauer is a little more expensive and slightly
larger, but also very light and fits in airplane seats
and down the aisle. We also wheeled the car seats down
the plane with the girls strapped in. We installed them
forward facing- not sure you can even do it rear
facing- and it was easy. Just annoying for the people
sitting in front because our girls kicked a lot. We
were the last people off the plane, but other than that
it was really convenient. Some more unsolicited advice-
bring easy snacks. My girls wouldn't eat real food the
whole 14 hours on the plane, and they are usually good
eaters. But they snacked on cheerios the entire time
and it was the only thing that made them happy. Drove
me nuts because I had a giant bag of food prepared.
 Good luck!

Hi Melanie, do you know who's keeping the travel closet
now? We are gearing up for our first trip with our
twins in early July and I was wondering what might be
available to borrow. I'd love to see if there was a
twins umbrella stroller so we don't have to being our
 giant one. Thanks!
