San Francisco Zoo recently learned there has been a data breach in the sales software of the third-party retailer that operates the Zoo's gift shops. This means that if you purchased an item in the Zoo's gift shops with either a credit or debit card, there may be a risk of unauthorized activity. We do not know the date of the breach; thus, please review your statements and recent transactions carefully.

While we do not know the extent of the breach, our first priority is to our patrons. San Francisco Zoo is working with its third-party partner as well as law enforcement to investigate the breach and will report updated information as soon as we know more.

San Francisco Zoo maintains its own independent database for all membership, employee and donor information. This information was not impacted by the data breach.

The Zoo's third-party retailer, Service Systems Associates, has engaged a forensic expert and will be providing specific notice to those individuals impacted by the breach. In the interim, the Zoo will establish a link on its web page to provide the most current information available.
