Join the SF Recreation and Park Department in celebration of Reboot's National Day
of Unplugging (NDU), sundown to sundown, March 6-7.

Get out and play with SF Rec. & Park for fun unplugging activities throughout the
day, including volunteer cleanup days, community events, free trail walks, Zumba

Reboot's National Day of Unplugging is once a year but it is designed to  remind
 us of the importance of unplugging from our devices (phones,  tablets, computers,
etc.) regularly at times throughout the year to  refocus our attention on the world
around us and reconnect with family,  friends and ourselves.

Rec and Park's unplugged activities are in partnership with the San Francisco Unified
School District and San Francisco Children, Youth and Their Families.

Save the Date: Eggstravaganza 2015 on April 4

Save the Date for our annual Eggstravaganza event at Sharon Meadow in Golden Gate
Park on April 4, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring carnival rides, egg hunts, games,
live entertainment and our annual Rib Cook-Off with SF Fire and SF Police departments.
 Cost is $8 per person; children under 2 are free.  Advance tickets will be available

Tween Fashion Show on March 5

The 8th Semi-Annual Tween Fashion Show is on Wednesday, March 5, at 5:30 p.m. in
 the ballroom at the Harvey Milk Center (50 Scott Street). Participants are students
from the Tween Fashion Star class. The class teaches tweens to "unleash your inner
fashion designer by learning to build with yarn, print, embellish, draft basic patterns,
sketch, style and accessorize." Students learn innovative techniques from three 
master textile artists and fashion insiders. The fashion show showcases students'

Stow Lake Boathouse in Golden Gate Park, Jennings Street off Cargo Way, (1st Saturday

Come join Rec & Park's 1st Saturday nature walk and discover opportunities for outdoor
play and good health. This two-mile loop trail around the lake features waterfalls,
bird watching and a grand view from the top of Strawberry Hill! Meet by the dock
 and let's Get Out & Play!

For a more enjoyable walk remember to dress comfortably, wear walking shoes, bring

The 2015 Sunday Streets season is just around the corner. Come explore the Embarcadero
between Fisherman's Wharf and AT&T Park on March 8, 2015. Between 11 a.m. and 4 
p.m., the northbound lanes will be open to walk, skate, bike, dance, and enjoy the

Sea Slug Soiree at the Randall Museum on March 21

Sea Slug Soirée

Saturday, March 21

7-10 p.m. at the Randall Museum (199 Museum Way)

The Sea Slug Soiree is "A Science and Art Celebration of Elegant Slugs of the Sea.
Featuring an 8pm lecture by nudibranch expert Dr Rebecca Johnson of the California
Academy of Sciences who will share current research and astounding biology of sea
slugs. Come learn how these sneaky slugs steal the defenses of their prey."

The Sea Slug Reception offers art, music, printmaking and two complimentary beverages.

This event is a collaboration between Rec and Park's Randall Museum and the Gulf
 of the Farallones National Marine Sanctuary.

Aquascapes: The Art of Underwater Gardening

Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park

On exhibit now through April 12

Aquascaping, the art of creating stunning underwater landscapes with plants, stones
and wood, is a popular international gardening trend. Annual competitions attract
hundreds of elaborate entries from around the world. The beautifully planted aquariums
can mimic everything from primeval forests to verdant valleys or can become sublime
works of underwater abstract art.
Now, visitors to the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park get a chance to
 marvel at this unique form of water gardening and learn how aquatic plants have
 adapted to life in the deep. The aquascapes will grow, change and transform throughout
the run of the exhibit, so be sure to visit us several times through April 12.
