3. Recap of Results from New and Expectant Group Survey (long)
--------------------------------------------------------
lmcdowell - 3/15/2015 3:36 pm

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on the
recent survey. Attendance at the group naturally ebbs
and flows but it was great to hear how important this
group is to people and it sounds like you definitely
want them to continue. We also had a nice turnout at
the group last week so hopefully we're on track to get
more of you together each time.Of course, it's
impossible to please everyone, but I'd like to address
key themes that came out of the feedback:-VERY
interested in evening and weekend meetings instead of
just during the week. --> I am happy to try this
and am more flexible in the evenings. I will test one
and see how it goes and then figure out how to proceed
(whether it will replace one daytime one or be an
additional meeting). I'll also post a listing to see if
anyone wants to host a weekend session.-there was not
an overwhelming response regarding day and time that
would work for people during the week so for now we'll
keep the daytime meetings the same.-Location: some
complained that the location is not convenient. Our
goal for location is as central as possible, elevator
or ground floor room, FREE and ideally some kind of
parking. There is a parking lot a few blocks from
Calvary that is referenced in the invites. I know
street parking can be difficult, but generally I have
luck within 10 minutes of driving around. We are
totally flexible with space, so if others have
suggestions of FREE space that fits with our needs,
please let me know. DayOne is not able to accommodate
us like they were in their previous space. In the
meantime, we're thankful for Calvary letting us use
their nursery.-Speakers: someone had a great idea to
bring in speakers on breast feeding, etc. I'm happy to
 do this, but at this point it's a catch22. I don't want
to risk bringing someone in and having no one show up
to the meeting, but I know it could draw more people
into the meetings. I would likely request a casual rsvp
to any meetings with speakers.-I'll be posting more
reminders, especially on facebook to keep the meetings
top of mind. I know how busy everyone is, but it was
suggested that more, and last minute, reminders are
very helpful. If you're not on the New and Expectant
Parents fb page, let me know and I can add you.-I also
want to address the idea of 'I don't want to risk being
the only one there'. I dedicate my time whether no one
comes or there is a large group - though usually I
leave after 45-an hour assuming no one is coming.
Sometimes I end up apologizing in the rare occurrences
that just one person comes (this is VERY rare), but
I've been told by several people that they actually
love it... they get to ask all their questions and
don't need to wait through other's concerns. And of
course, you can leave whenever you need to -- don't
feel obligated to stay the whole time if you've had
your questions answered. Obviously there's a huge
benefit to meeting other parents and getting their
insight, but just wanted to offer a different
perspective should you find yourself in that
situation.-I want to encourage people to use the
BigTent forums and/or the fb pages (SFPOM and New and
Expectant Parents pages) to post questions, share
successes, etc. I think some may be hesitant to post
b/c the forums aren't too active, but in order to build
a community, at least offline, it's so helpful to post
questions (I'm sure others have the same ones!) or
responses if you have any ideas. We're here to support
each other through this crazy journey that is
multiples!-I now have access to the BigTent calendar,
however there's a bug, but I will update the events for
all upcoming meetings as soon as possible. I'll
continue to use this more for reminders and when
requesting RSVPs for evening or weekend meetings or
those with speakers.-Finally (if you've actually read
this far;), I just want to highlight a previous post
about the benefits of the group, especially the mentor
 program:
 http://www.bigtent.com/group/forum/message/86529173?ff=1&md=NjA3Nzg0MjI=
Please contact me at anytime if you would like to be
paired up with a mentor, if you're not sure where to
find info or if you just need to talk. My twins are
almost 2 and while I certainly don't know everything, I
will help where I can or try to connect you to the
right person.Hope to meet more of you in person soon!
