Can anyone recommend a specific Bright Horizons backup
sitter who cared well for infant twins? We are looking
for someone to care for our five-month-old twins June
10-11 when our nanny is off and would love any
 recommendations. Thanks!

2. Reminder: New and Expectant Parents Group Meeting

lmcdowell - 5/26/2015 7:00 am

Meetings are held the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each
month, from 1-2:30pm. Meetings are held at Calvary
Presbyterian Church at 2515 Fillmore Street (between
Pacific and Jackson). Enter the church to the right of
the main entrance with all the stairs, which has a ramp
that will lead to double doors. Enter and you'll see an
elevator straight ahead. Take the elevator to the 3rd
floor, exit and walk all the way back past the
bathrooms to the Nursery. Parking: There is 2-hour
street parking on neighboring streets and metered
parking on Fillmore (hit or miss, but I can usually
find a spot within 10 minutes). There is a parking
garage (CPMC garage) on Clay between Webster and
Buchanan in case you can't find parking elsewhere. It's
a few blocks away but it's an option. We welcome all
expecting and new parents with multiples under one year
of age. Come alone, with your partner, and/or your
babies. You may also bring the helping hands of
friends, nannies, and grandparents. Should you run out
of helping hands we have many more ready to help out.
The New and Expectant Parents Group is an ideal place
to gain invaluable twin parenting advice, an
opportunity to ask many questions, to see how other
parents cope with more than one baby, a place to laugh,
to cry, to rejoice, and to share proud and scary
moments in our step-by-step journey into parenthood of
multiples. You must be a member to attend regularly.
Prospective members may attend one meeting before
joining. You can contact the moderator at

Kuddos for doing so much already! It took 8 weeks to
establish a good nursing relationship with my girls who
were born at 37 weeks with no nicu time. Their mouths
were just really small and it made BF a bit challenging
until they grew some and we all figured out what
worked. I hear you on the time commitment. It feels
like all you do is feed them or pump at the beginning!
I tandem fed them as much as I could to reduce time. I
also pumped several times a day for a little over a
month I believe, but not after every nursing. It was
just too much. I will say, it gets a lot better after a
month or two. That might sounds like a long time, but I
remember being surprised at how easy it got once we
made it past 6 weeks postpartum. All the lactation
consultants I saw emphasized the only sure way to have
supply is to remove the milk. I fed mine every two
hours and every three at night. That with the pumping
2-3 times a day got it going and I never had to
supplement after our first two weeks. I'm still BF both
at 13 months. It might help to know that your breasts
are never "empty" of milk. You are constantly making it
even if it feels like there is nothing. La Leche League
has some great resources on this. Another good thing to
know is that your babies will go through some crazy
growth spurts about 3 weeks after birth and seem to be
hungry ALL the time. Totally normal. It will happen
again around 6 weeks and 8 weeks. I recall feeling like
they would eat me if they could at that time! The
spurts only last a few days, but it's good to know so
you can mentally get yourself through the crazy amount
of nursing/feeding they do during that time. Hope some
of this helps. Nursing is a lot more work that people
ever say I feel and you are doing it x2!
