Conservatory of Flowers' Garden Railway Exhibit Begins November 12
Garden Railway Exhibit at the Conservatory of Flowers: 1915 Pan-Pacific International
Expo
November 12-April 10, 2016
All aboard for a trip back in time as the Conservatory of Flowers presents an all
new garden railway display celebrating the centennial of San Francisco's 1915 Panama-Pacific
International Exposition.
In an enchanting display landscaped with hundreds of dwarf plants and several water
features, model trains wend their way through the festive fairgrounds, zipping past
whimsical recreations of the fair's most dazzling monuments and amusements, including
the Tower of Jewels, Palace of Fine Arts, and more. Interpretive signs, memorabilia
and interactive activities throughout help visitors to understand the colorful history
of the grand fair that signaled San Francisco's recovery from the 1906 earthquake.

Kayak Day on the Bay

 Last month, the San Francisco Recreation and Park Commission approved yesterday
 a partnership agreement to develop parks and open spaces along the India Basin 
Shoreline.

Joe DiMaggio Playground Reopens on November 14
Join Rec and Park, SF Public Library, SF Public Works and the Friends of Joe DiMaggio
Playground for a celebration event on Saturday, November 14, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.,
marking the completion of a $7.3 million renovation project under the 2012 Clean
 and Safe Neighborhood Parks Bond.  The new playground, adjacent to the recently
 constructed North Beach Library, includes an expanded and improved children's play
area, new landscaping and resurfaced sports courts.  The event on November 14 will
include mobile recreation activities, Zumba, a smoothie bike, food for sale, activities
at the North Beach Library and free rec swim at North Beach Swimming Pool.

Larsen Playground Reopens on November 21
Join Supervisor Katy Tang, Assessor-Recorder Carmen Chu, the Friends of Larsen Playground,
the SF Parks Alliance and Rec and Park for the much anticipated reopening of Larsen
Playground (19th Avenue and Vicente) on Saturday, November 21, from 11 a.m. to 1
 p.m.  This free event will include brief remarks, kids activities and a special
 unveiling of the park's new jet plane, which replaces the old decommissioned jet
planes that served as play structures at the park from 1959 through 1993.
