Friends,
As we head into the holiday season, I am reminded just how fortunate we are to live
and work in a city with such a tremendous park system. Together, we share some of
the most iconic parks in the world in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
>From Golden Gate Park to Cayuga Playground, our park system is unparalleled in both
substance and charm.
Each and every day, our staff is proud to make a difference in our communities by
providing creative, exciting programs to the public. Our programs and events, from
summer day camps to senior dance classes, continue to be some of the most sought-after
offerings in the city.
We have tremendous park partners who support a wide array of city projects, and 
park bond initiatives passed by voters in 2008 and 2012 have allowed us to renovate
parks, playgrounds and rec centers across the city. In just the last few weeks alone,
we've broken ground or celebrated openings at Mansell Street in McLaren Park, Larsen
Park in the Sunset, Joe DiMaggio Playground in North Beach, South Park in District
6, and the Randall Museum in Corona Heights.
During this week of giving thanks, I want to express my gratitude to all of you--
our friends, our elected officials, our neighborhood park groups, park partners,
 staff, city agencies and those of you who simply get out and use your parks-- for
supporting us and continuing to care so passionately about your parks.
